Why are Ikea sofas so horribly disproportioned?

No one has thighs that long, and i'm tall! How the hell are you supposed to sit on them?

You've read the instructions wrong and assembled it upside down

I know what you mean, our ikea sofa makes me feel like I'm nearly lay down when sitting down playing on the 360.

That's probably why I fall asleep so easy on it

They're not for sitting, they're for schlomping

My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

We've got Klippans in both our downstairs rooms, and they're jolly comfortable considering they cost about £140 each.

Ikea should deffo make a sofa called the Poontang, millions would be sold on the name alone.

Beef curtains would go nicely with a Poontang sofa I think.

I guess im one of the few who likes to sit properly, which is impossible on those ikea sofas, you have to either kneel on them or slouch like crazy

Re: Why are Ikea sofas so horribly disproportioned?

I'm 6'3 with long legs (36" inside leg) and always find it annoying when people have cushions on sofas as I can't sit back properly. My girlfriend is 5'0 and loves cushions, and made me realise that for people with shorter legs they are incredibly practical and allow them to sit on a larger sofa with their knees past the end of the seat cushion.

So, here's the point, I think a lot of these sofas are designed to be customised with cushions. Some of the DFS designs don't even have conventional back cushions, just an array of individual 'plump' cushions that don't support you at all.

I like to lounge on my sofa as much as the next guy, but when I want to sit up, I agree with you and do at least want the option for both sitting and slouching.

So, try some cushions, or go and buy a sofa from Habitat like I did!
