AFAIK DVD+R and +RW are more compatable and generally better

im pretty sure minus, is more popular - or at least more compatible but theres not much of a difference
not sure which are better quality to be fair, id take a guess at +

DVD-R is more compatible at about 90-95%, while DVD+R manages 85-90%, so there isn't much in it. DVD+R was originally concieved as a data format by Sony, who didn't want to pay royalties to the DVD Forum, and later retargetted at the video market. DVD-R is not DVD minus R, it's a dash, the same as CD-R.
