Job Interview
As many of you know I'm at uni but I'm off for the next month for Easter hols. I mentioned to a mate last night that I might want some work (to hopefully dig myself out of the overdraft). This morning half an hour ago I got a phone call saying I've got an interview at 2pm
![]() He said its full-time in the warehouse at boots, apparently the pays good and if I'm good at this they'll upgrade me to being on tills. As its manual work should I take along a CV with loads of qualifications on or do you think that's not appropriate? What should I wear? smart casual? or I've got a suit that hasn't seen the light of day in a while? Anyway I've never had a job before (unless you count a paper round at 12) so wish me luck. I'll let you know how it goes.

I do understand getting in debt, having been there myself (twice) it's virtually unavoidable. What I can't understand though is just how much debt people are getting into - it's crazy.
re: the job, well manual work can be tough but it pays well and the people you work with are normally a good laugh. I wouldn't bother with a CV full of qualifications, they just want someone who'll work hard without whinging, turn up on time and has a pair of stout boots! (no pun intended) |

Theres nothing WRONG with taking a CV along. Do one so that if they at least ask for one you can produce something. Theres nothing worse than not going to an interview prepared.
I would suggest dressing in smart casual. Don't go the whole hog with a suit but show that you arent a tramp ![]() Think about things you've done, experiences you've had etc. You never know what they might ask you! Good luck mate. Ben |

I would have thought turning up to any interview in a suit would be good practice, regardless of the job
As for qualifications, maybe shuffle your C.V round so it shows more 'skill based' work i.e having the ability to act practically not theoretically ![]() ...just my spin on things anyway! |

yeah, take a cv as a sort of token gesture...can't hurt either way can it? and just go in honestly
Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?

Grats! Photo development is COOL!
![]() At Tesco's we used to get quite a few rude snaps going through every now and again... was a good laugh!
If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Kezzer, so at 18 you've got £5K a year of income?, thats either a very naive statement or your too fking rich to care
![]() Now those that know me, know i'm very sensible with money, but even so 3years at Uni cost me £15K, i'm no big drinker, sure i went out once or twice a week, but £5k a year is nothing, you are talking £2k a year in rent, £2k a year in living expenses, thats £50 a week (this included my beer money), which is fk all and certainly not going out every night of the week. Then you've got books, travel expenses back home, any luxuries (hey i purchased a cd writer at 2x speed in the first year, cost me £270 - but i needed to back up all the work i was doing) £15k is easy to rack up debt of and i wasn't in the position to have to pay any of these stupid fees. And mine was a year 3 course, i feel sorry for anyone doing more than this. TiG

on top of what tig has just said, if your living in halls then there is rent to pay.... accomodation certainly here in liverpool is not cheap. Many students ave to work in order to surive at university, otherwise you sink before your first semester is over! Luckily i recieve a payment once a month because im a employee of the NHS and have been very lucky to live in halls, its bloody hard tho!
Its very very hard to stay out of debt as a student and the prospect is frightening ![]() South Barrule from Cringle Plantation (with a Landy )

Well my parents are sorting it out so i don't have to work when i'm over there. Also i don't do drugs, i don't drink and i don't smoke (well i do drink but i don't get drunk). I gave all of that up a long time ago
![]() Still curious to see how i'll run myself down in debt this year though. I'm working over the summer to get everything i want before i go to uni so then i won't want anything when i'm over there

It'll happen, trust us (we've actually been there and experienced it), going out, food, general *stuff*, course materials, computer bits and bobs, various bills (gas/electric/tv license/telephone/internet etc). It does eventually mount up, especially towards the end of a course (more so if it's a sandwich course).

![]() Average rent around here is over £2500 per year then with fees on top, that is your student loan gone, that is before any food, electric, beer etc. Which is why I owe over 23K, in my final year of a 4yr course. |
