I think its great he thought of the idea and followed it through, getting even some letter responses would be worthwhile enough

I'd like to invoice him for the time I wasted reading this rubbish. Imagine your client wanting to bill you for the time they spent making their enquiry. Prat.

My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

Its a genious idea, because companies will have paid just for the marketing.

a cheque for £<70 to someone, which you then make sure gets blogged about, its brillaint, and fair play to the bloke for thinking it up (assuming he did).

I trust however, he will pay tax on that, and that the companies issuing the cheques will pay NI too.

Not only did he blog, but they got coverage in several major newspapers, on 5 Live and other media outlets.

Fair play to him, and to the companies that paid up! At least there are people with senses of humour behind the slogans...

It is a great pr stunt if nothing else. Pret A Manger got more than a lot more than 62.80 in press coverage in just this forum alone!

What I want to know is if Pret A Manger are giving out random cheques to people, is this why they're 30 days late already paying their account with us for goods supplied!

So glad I've seen this now, will be forwarding a copy to their accounts with their Final Demand *grin*

Funny story. Reminds me of something my brother did. Got a 5 pack of ham from Tesco and it turned out it only had 4 slices in the pack. He wrote to them saying how he had to make a special trip back as he then didn't have enough ham to make lunch for the whole week. Personally I thought he was a tight ass - there again I guess he didn't get what he'd paid for.

They gave him £5 voucher and a very sarcastic letter back for his trouble though.......

To the best of my knowledge, no it's not, which is why credit references work, you can share information on people's debts without their approval.
