Today i fancied going on a bike ride as i've done for ages and although i knew the weather was bad i've cylcled in the snow before and i've been fine. Only fallen off once before and i didn't even hurt.
So when i went out on my bike i expected it to be a bit dodgey but i was planning to just trickle down the hill until i got to a track which i know would be fine.
So as i set of it was just lightly spitting but i din't think anything of it. But as soon as i set my tyre on the road i was over. It was so slippery. When i could not stop my self from sliding down the hill with my bike. I couldn't even get to the side or stop my self.
So i slide most of the way down the hill until it got to a flatter bit but still hilly(luckily the road it quite as if a car had been coming it would have slide and probaly taken me out)there was the postman. Having the exact same problem. He'd fallen off his bike and had slide down the hill. It would have been quite funny if it wasn't quite so bad.
And no joke it took both of us working as a team about 15 mins to get to the side of the road were we could stand. It then took both of us another 3/4 hour to get back up the hill as the postie decided it was to dangerous to do his round, plus i was on the wrong side of the road and you couldn't even cross it.
Moral of this story for me is to alway check hills in icy conditions before i start cycling on them.
