left over organs?
been watching program on channel4 about ogran trade...weird, fascinating, disgusting, needed (?)
I actually heard a pretty grizzly story about organs for money: a guy goes to a bar and his drink gets spiked with some date-rape type drug, he passes out and remembers nothing of the evening. he awakens in a freezing cold bath in a hotel room. the bath is full of ice and water. in front of him is a message written down in clear lettering NOT TO MOVE FROM THE BATH and to immediately call the following number with the phone to the side of the bath [within arms reach] - and most importantly (again) NOT TO MOVE. He's pretty groggy but does as instructed - after all its such a weird situation I suspect anyone would do the same. He calls the number - some emergency doctors number - tells them whats happened [sitting in freezing bath, can't move etc] and is informed he has had an organ removed [kidney] and they are on their way to save him...kidney sold to someone many miles away i should think. ...nasty. so as well as watching your drinks [girls] for despicable rapists, there's also the chance someone will whip out a kidney too!
Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?

Hmm - I think I've heard that story about 50 times, with different variations - guy/girl, goes into a bar/pub/nightclub/brothel, meets sweet looking girl/guy, wakes up in a hospital/toilet/bath/gutter, finds note/scar/lots of blood/phone call, has had kidney/lung/pancreas/ovary removed. It's got to be an urban myth - wether it every actually happened to anyone, I don't know - I've certainly never actually seen it on a news programme or site.
Didn't actually catch the show last night I'm afraid (too busy playing painkiller) But did hear that Isreal was looking to legalize the trade (interesting approach - if you can't stop it, make it controlled instead). Hopefully it'll become a short term thing as we gradually learn to just clone organs.
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

yeah, i figured at least with cloned organs we'll not really need to wait for blood matches etc and perhaps less immunosuppresant drugs required post op. would be a big advantage and an increase in life/organ longevity.
