    Steam account - passwords....

i have 2 accounts one which my friend uses, he decided to change the password and has forgotten it! (of course i had to give the go ahead through my email) but this time round....well steam is asking this,

What did customer support last reset your passphrase to?

and ive no idea how anyone let alone me would remember that! i mean would yuo remember? consider the last time i had to change the password was last year.....im not happy and had to put a ticket in...worse thing is i dont have a cd key for any of the games, there all bought form steam so you now, no game case's with cd keys in lol

ok so anyone else thing thats abit stupid? urg this was more of a rant than anything!

    ""edit""

and i tryed to log into my account after trying the 2nd account and it now wont let me, im presented with

"steam is having trouble connecting to the steam servers"

yet my mate luke can log in on my pc fine....so now my 2nd account the password doesnt work anymore as we forgot it, and my account i cannot log into cos steam being stupid...for once its not me XD urg the joys of steam..utterly useless!

    Absolutely

You gave someone your username and password that has links to banking details. Not only did you breach the EULA no doubt in giving your details to someone else you risked having card transactions for games made against you with little recourse as you didn't try to limit the risks

Actually I don't think it's a bit stupid, what you did is very stupid, what Steam did is sensible, it helps discourage things like that

    tl;dr: See DirectHex's post:
You are solely responsible for all activity on your Account and for the security of your computer system. You may not reveal, share or otherwise allow others to use your password or Account. You agree that you are personally responsible for the use of your password and Account and for all of the communication and activity on Steam that results from use of your login name and password. You may not sell or charge others for the right to use your Account, or otherwise transfer your Account.

Sorry, but the fact you have known someone for over 10 years, counts for crap in real life. ANYONE can stab you in the back, best mate or not.

It does suck that you have forgotted the pass phrase they gave you, that your mate changed the password and forgot, but have you asked yourself WHY your mate changed the password?

Yes your right, but if you had an email with a passphase that you didnt know you would need to keep, would you keep it? well maybe you might but i think most people would delete it, myself included

So this password is changed to something clearly too complex to be remembered? Surely it would have been better better for you to change the password or your mate to change the password to something easier for him to remember? Like something that jogs a memory or means something, to you and only you?

Well, he changed it (with my permission of course) and i didint bother with the password or asking what it was, i let him use the account, and he will keep it either way. how he forgot the password is beyound me mind. we did have a good giggle about that

    Re: Steam account - passwords....

Razer, is there an option to e-mail steam for support?

Don't mention that you have two accounts, one that you have given a friend, just say you dont remember the pass phrase last used or something?

See if there is another way you can get it changed?
