I understand that, but what has that to do with doctor emigration? (Refer back to post 119 and your reply in 121). If you had presented examples of how doctors in other countries are better off compared to doctors in the UK after a decrease in pension, I'd understand. But why would Singapore's "much lower standard of living" justify either a higher compensation in this country (if it is the case) or encourage emigration?
Incidentally, I am also going to dispute the statement about Singapore having a much lower standard of living*. Though I have not found any index that measures standard of living alone, the frequently quoted HDI has Singapore ranked above the UK by two places (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...elopment_Index). Mercer's Quality of Living survey also places Singapore quite a bit higher than the highest placed city in the UK (http://www.mercer.com/press-releases...ng-report-2011).
* Being presently mobile, and still wondering where in the world I want to settle (if), I am quite interested in both objective and subjective evaluation of various countries. Even disregarding the index/survey above, and while I personally find Singapore too hot for me, but fail to see how the standard of living is really much lower than in the UK.
