Amazon game trade-ins possibly lost in transit :(

As title, I arranged the trade-in of two games to Amazon (value >£50), printed the prepaid label and dropped the parcel off at the PO. However, it's been nearly a month now (posted on 1st) and nothing yet; I've contacted them a few times only to be told I should wait 30 days and contact them again. They also keep saying to use the tracking number, but they only provide standard shipping, 2nd class IIRC, but I did get proof of posting.

So, where do I stand on this? As time passes it's looking more and more like some pikey has stolen the games. I mean Amazon's customer support are usually great but they don't seem to enthusiastic to do anything about this.

    Many thanks

If worse comes to worse, you could also try claiming through RM. I did a claim once for £48 for something posted First Class Recorded and they sent a cheque with the full amount, even though I was supposed to be only able to claim for up to £46 or something. It was dealt with in less than a week two and the form was relatively straight forward.

For you it may be harder as it wasn't sent recorded, but you could possibly argue with Amazon with that, I guess all you can do is wait 30 days for now.

Yeah, apparently you can only claim up to 30-something quid's worth of stamps if it's sent non-recorded, which translates to about 2 stamps now right?

I'm still using the stamps I received a few years back from a lower value claim. Anyone who's received anything from me on FS probably wonders why I stick loads of stamps even on parcels!

Its a set multiple of the price of the stamp - so as stamp prices increase, so does the cap on the amount of compensation

    Yep, I claimed pre-April so I think it should have been 100x46p = £46.

Amazon customer service is usually top notch though so I don't think you'll have to go down the RM claim route.

Re: Amazon game trade-ins possibly lost in transit :(

The last claim I made was for something just dropped in a postbox, has something changed in the past few years or were they only meant to refund postage rather than give me a huge stamp book?

Yeah I'm hoping Amazon are as good as usual, and I'd be down a tenner or so if I had to claim via RM. In future, it would be better to send one at a time...

Re: Amazon game trade-ins possibly lost in transit :(

Just a quick update, Amazon still haven't received it and are looking into it.

However, I recently returned another item, also worth around £50 to an eBay seller, 1st class, and they've still not received it.

Unfortunately, I didn't learn from the last time and again only got proof of posting but no tracking number. So is it now standard policy to steal any mail without a tracking number on it as it's not easy to prove? They were both posted at the same Post Office so I obviously have my suspicions; it would seem there's either a thief or an idiot working there...

Not sure if I should leave Amazon to deal with it for now and give the second one a while longer, or get in touch with RM. But the standard claim form probably doesn't have an option for 'how many items have we lost/stolen in the past month?'

It's worth contacting your local sorting office to ask, if you can identify the packages there may be a good reason why it's been held up. Plenty of "dead mail" gets held when there's no return address and things are improperly packaged.

IIRC they both had return addresses and I've never had problems with poor packaging before, but like you say it's worth a check.

Re: Amazon game trade-ins possibly lost in transit :(

Another update, Amazon are basically not interested, just a hindrance if anything; after procrastinating, telling me to wait 30 days, then saying they'd be back in touch after another while, I got an email yesterday essentially telling me to sod off, it's not their problem. So now I have to go through the RM claims process, which I could have done after 15 days if Amazon hadn't wasted my time...

I've also sent a letter of complaint explaining I've lost two high value parcels at the same post office within a month.

Sorry to hear that mate, I've had mixed experiences with Amazon recently.

I've had this happen in the past, Sent something via RM Recorded, and it got lost, so now any item that is worth more than £40 gets sent RM Special Delivery, it'll cost <£4 more but its well worth it.
