    Nokia 6230...A few quick Q's

    Hi

Ordering my Nokia 6230 today and just wanted a few quick questions answering before I take the plunge:
    • MMC Cards...are they all a standard size? What is the maximum size [in Mb's] you can fit in the 6230?
    • What is the headphone socket size on the phone?
    • Is it possible to get a standard 3.5mm headphone into the phone, if not, is there adaptors available?
    • Will a Bluetooth dongle work fine with the 6230?

    Cheers

    Tom

Okay to answer a few of your questions

    1. First yes they are all standard sizes. . And I'm not sure but I don't think there is a limit as such.
    2. There isnt a headphones socket as such as it uses the Pop-Port functionality and connects via this. (So you would have to buy nokia's stereo headset)
    3. No 99% sure you can't as its a pop-port rather than a headphone socket.
    4. Okay as for Bluetooth it should do but I don't know whether its Data or Voice and if its voice then you can only connect to a bluetooth headset but it should be both. . I'll see if I can find out more and post laters.

    Hope this helps

    Good choice

MMC Cards: Yep, MMC is a standard size. If its an MMC card, they will be the same type. (Is that what you meant?) I think the maximum supported size is 128MB for the 6230, though larger sizes do work! Just so you know, not all sizes, and or, makes work properly. Most do, but there are some exceptions! I found this link when finding compatible makes. (The phone comes with a 32MB card if you didn't know) I'm currently using a 128Mb PNY card in mine and have had no problems. Just a tip, format the card on the phone before you use it. It has been known to get quite buggy if you don't.

The headphones come with the phone, connect to the "pop port" at the bottom of the phone, so you can't just plug any old headphones in I'm afraid! Nokia unique.

I have not seen any adapters I'm afraid that will connect a 3.5mm jack headphones to it. So I'm not entirely sure they exist.

Yep, any bluetooth dongle should work fine!

    I hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice guys...i was considering 256mb card but if u only recommend up to 128 i'll stick with that. I knew it had 32 but i need a bit more

What are the headphones supplied with it like?

Well I wouldn't totally give up with the 256 card, have a read through that thread, quite a few people are quite happily using 256MB cards, even 512!

I can't really say anything bad about the headphones really. To be honest I have only ever used them once or twice! They seem quite alright to me! Do the job!

To be honest i think 128 will be big enough for me, although i am also looking at a KingMAX which has been confirmed as working (256mb)

Yeah, 128Mb is loads for me! It can store, literally a few thousend photos in 640x480! I imagine its only if you were going to store quite a few mp3s on it, you would need anything larger.

Nice one. Was a good idea getting the card reader too... So much quicker than using bluetooth to transfer music!

The bigger the MMC card, the slower the phone. 256mb will have little impact

Good choice Tom, I look forward to having a play with it

How come the 6230 uses MMC whereas the 7610 (which is a bigger phone)-i fink ) uses RSMMC? Btw, what is the largest RSMMC card there is?
