Ireland trip

So I'm off to Ireland for the last week of August. Taking the ferry to Dublin and stopping a few days there, then planning on driving south around the coast then up to Galway.

Can anyone suggest any recommended places to visit?

Would be good to hear about Photography Locations and general tourism stuff.

Take lots and lots of money. Ireland is really quite expensive these days.

I enjoyed the Guinness factory in Dublin... you get a 'free' pint of Guinness with your ticket which you can redeem at the Sky Bar, or use at the 'learn to pour a perfect pint' workshop. If you like Guinness I'd recommend you pay for a ticket (€5) at the 'pour your pint' workshop as they you can use your 'free' voucher at the Sky Bar (as you can't buy drinks up there!!).

Visit Westport in Co. Mayo if you want some nice pictures Its a very nice area. And Dublin is very expensive. Elsewhere is similar to the UK. It will not be cheap but you will have a blast.

If yer into Trad Irish Music this is THE place to be..... Lots of competitions for the prestigious "All Ireland "Champion" status, and LOTS of pub sessions ! I com,peted on bodhran in 2000 at Enniscorthy and had a spectacularly good time.

EDIT, nvm, its only on till 20 Aug (its usually LAST weekend in August)

Thanks all. We'll be getting off the ferry in exactly two weeks from now, but apart from two full days in Dublin, we've not really thought about the other 3 days in Ireland. The closer the time gets more I think we're going to struggle to fit much into the last 3 days.

oh btw, try the Oliver St John Gogerty pub in Temple Bar Dublin. Fantastic music upstairs and the best Irish Stew you will find.

How far south are you going? If you can, you ought give Cork a day. Oft forgotten but it's a big place with lots of history. It'd round the regions nicely too: Dublin, Cork, Galway - Leinster, Munster, Connacht. And maybe a pause in Limerick on the way up.
