    Best wet shave razor?

Hi all, i am currently still using a Gillette Mach 3 turbo and im coming to the end of my stock of blades. I have seen a few new razors (new Gillette and Wilkinson sword) released recently, do these give a better shave? better value for money? Cheaper replacement blades?
In your experience whats the best value for money decent shaver?

I find all those expensive razors a waste of money.

I prefer the BIC dual blade disposable razors. Use once and bin. Means you are guaranteed a sharp blade every time.

They Don't have all the fancy technology or moisturising strips but if you use a good shaving gel then it doesn't matter.

    That's my choice anyways.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

I'm using the Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 (http://wilkinsonsword.co.uk/men/showroom/hydro_5/). Works well, good close shave and the blades seem to last fairly well.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

For the price of the Mach 3 blades, Id stick with them..... I have really sensitive skin and these, combined with Gillette aloe vera sensitive skin gel, make sure I dont get cut up as much.

I stick with the traditional DE razor

    Something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Merkur-34C-D...4703737&sr=8-1

Then depending on your blade of choice it's from £10 to £20 for 100-200 blades, stick to Astra Platinum myself
    I've got stuff for sale!

Best razor i have ever bought

I got a razor sample pack of abotu 200 raxors for about 20 quid and am working through them atm.

Fave so far have been Derby blades

Does get expensive in other ways though as a good quality cream costs about 20 quid although it does last a lot longer and gives a much better lather than the cheapo Gillette stuff.

http://www.traditionalshaving.co.uk/...g-Starter-Kits GOod place to get started. 50 quid outlay gets you everything you need and the razor itself will last you a lifetime

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

Those DE razors are good but I find it an awful lot more time consuming to get a good shave from them. I generally use an electric razor when I'm in a rush and use a DE when I've got time for all the accompanying faff that goes with it.

The same with me. Have not found anything else I that can shave as good with. I hardly ever cut myself with these. I tried a cheap boots ones as I forgot to take my razor when I was away but, Although I never cut myself it just did not feel smooth to shave with.

Gf actually got me the 38C IIRC (longer handle) as the 34C was OOS and it was a present, but yes, best razor

The creams do last a long time though, got one last year as part of the kit and still haven't gotten through it even with a typical 3 pass shave every few days

I couldn't get used to the Derby blades, astra platinum or even the feather blades (feather ones are amazing but not worth it in the additional cost)

For anyone not keen on the outlay, Boots sell a Wilkinson Sword plastic DE which isn't bad to start with

Get an Alum block while you are at it, great for the little nicks you'll no doubt give yourself while learning and helps any razor burn (again you will no doubt give yourself while learning)

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

I shave once a week with Gillette Fusion Hydra gel , Gillette Fusion Power razor + blade , Denim aftershave ( Gillette Fusion aftershave is also good )
These are just simply superb. No cuts or irritated skin issues.

    Costwise,
Hydra gel - £2 most of the time
Gillette aftershave - £1 at Pound shops
The razor and blade is a bit expensive. Well, if you buy the razor , you can keep re-using it. Supermarkets often have offers of Razor + 2 blades for £3. Blades alone cost £2/blade . Then again they last for 3 months.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

I used to work for Gillette so was wedded to their stuff. I had rooms full of the stuff from the staff shop. When it finally ran out, some years after I left, my wife got a Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 blade as a consumer test article and I was surprised at how much better than the Gillette it is.

    Re: Best wet shave razor?

Thought I don't wet shave much any more, I've always found the Gilette Mach 3 (and Turbo) blades pretty good.
That being said, I haven't tried the WS Hydro 5 that has been mentioned, so I'm intrigued now too!
