I find the concept of being the only intelligent species in the university basically impossible. I'm not closed minded when it comes to these things.

I do however like to have a bit of perspective on these things. You're talking about what would quite possibly be the biggest discovery in the history of humanity....but they are using kickstarter to raise the funds for a film about it?

The minimum they needed to do a broadcast quality, major documentary was $250,000 which we now have raised because of all of you!

Of course, this minimum is a minimum. And if we have more networking support from the public we can make an even better, more far-reaching and impactful film. So please contribute all that you can to support this historic multi-media project.

    BREAKING NEWS: URGENT

There is a chance that we may be able to include in the film “Sirius” the scientific testing of a possible Extraterrestrial Biological Entity (EBE) that has been recovered and is deceased. This EBE is in the possession of a cooperative institute desiring further scientific evaluation of the possible ET. We cannot reveal at this time the location of this being or the name of the person or persons who possess it.
Only a chance of including it? Quite possibly the single biggest discovery known to man, and there is only a CHANCE?

Oh...and you're going to use the money to make a film first, and not test the "EBE"?

    ......

Actually, getting involved in clearly quack research ruins their reputation with their peers in no time flat. There's plenty of scientists who've never got out of grunt lab work because they espouse nonsense, and nobody will ever take their proposals seriously, much less put money into it. Occasionally they dupe layman investors, and they may even gain a cult following on youtube or something, but they never get anywhere academically.

Oh, indeed. But I'm just trying to highlight that the titles are not protected. Anyone can go on film calling their self either and appear to elevate their status - you don't have to be respected by anyone in the scientific circle. Some relish in this fact and make a lot of money out of it:

A few places consider him a serious researcher *shrug*.

If they really did have a "EBE", they should go and present it directly to one of many respected. published with peer reviewed scientists out there. They would either get laughed at or we'd have a discovery very quickly.

I dont think its that straightforward, I seem to recall Graham Hancock having a hell of a lot of trouble even getting one to be associated with him in regards his pyramid theories ( partly why i think hes just given up )

Im not saying its not possible but you can see the reluctance in these relationships to conform to anything that might seem .. abnormal or frowned on by their peers.

    Heres another example
( note the difference in opinion on the dating to distance himself from the advanced civilization theory )

From the introduction in that page, I'm pretty sure I'd prefer a lobotomy, or at least would require one to read from cover to cover without trying to club myself unconscious so I can forget that I did. I have no time for unsubstantiated supernatural nonsense, whether biblical, or 'new age'.

Oh sure, you get those types all over, like I said, some 'scientists' have a cult following on youtube & the like, proclaiming 'free energy' is just within our grasp, they just need another million dollars.

No one has any idea how our brains work or processes information - . so what makes you think what you see as reality is even " real " and there arent other types ( even within our own ) ?

you label everything as biblical or new age say that is rubbish, yet you might be surprised that it is in fact the typical persons mind that tends to daydream and create illusion not those who practice being present of it.

    see here

Actually we have a pretty reasonable idea of how neurology functions, we even emulate it in a limited fashion in computers. But matrix-like metaphysics serves no purpose. We use machines to observe radiation outside our perception range, which is independent verification that what we see is real.

That's the thing about science, nothing is taken on a matter of faith.

If that is the case then how does meditation rewire our brain / perception of reality, where is your rational reason for why we cant use reason to be happy ?

after all if we're that miserable then it should be easy to remind ourselves not to be - yet instead it seems all people do is become addicted to weak substitutes for distraction and temporary relief instead ( including games , porn ,drink and anything else )

So if your saying that is reality ( the one of the typical person ) which I assume your studies where based on, then why is it people spend all their time doing nothing but trying to escape it ?
