a 38% overturn rate?! I wonder how many of the remaining 62% were people who just lost hope and gave in rather than repeatedly go through the stressful procedures.

Yup... pretty depressing stuff isnt it ?

Cameron might as well legalize euthanasia , that way they'll save even more money for their " off the shelf activities ".

If it wasnt for the farce they call their morality and maintaining an illusion, I bet you they would do it !!

Part of it is the, obviously false in some cases, that everyone is capable of doing something productive.

Sensible people know there are always cases that prove to be an exception, just people like ATOS are employed to explicitly ignore any exceptions and deem everyone capable.

    Re: ATOS Medical Assessment .

I was discussing this with my wife earlier (we have a couple of friends who've had issues), and it seems to us that they might be making the right decision, if we had a culture of making appropriate adjustment and flexible working. I'm sure there are a huge number of people on benefit who could do some work, and so you could potentially call them "capable of work". However there's a huge difference between being able to do some tasks with appropriate support and flexibility, and being able to hold down a regular 9 to 5 job.

Perhaps what the government needs to be doing is spending more money of ensuring that jobs with reasonable adjustments and flexible working are available for the people who want to take them, rather than trying to find any reason to stop giving money to people who - in the current working environment - need it.

Any idiot can see this just an excuse , the government give out ridiculous aid , allow an overspill of foreign workers and in the meantime established businesses are disappearing.

Meanwhile more bank scams keep showing up and the other elite global establishments like Starbucks are being allowed to profit.

In fact in the US the big companies have actually made more profit under Obama than any one else.. I wonder why ?

The issue of setting up a structure that delivers on the help & support front is in a lot of ways an entirely separate issue to that of people who in their own & their doctors' accurate assessment are unfit for any work, being found fit.

Let alone the persistent and insulting implication that most people deemed fit to do 'some work', work-related activity &c &c, after having applied for incapacity benefits (as they should still correctly be called btw), have en masse mysteriously failed entirely to spot that they could indeed do this 'little something', & have failed to do anything about it or use their own initiative to approach anyone who could help & advise them. In short who had no idea they were fit to do some part-time work or volunteering until the day it was helpfully pointed out by ATOS & the DWP. It may indeed be true that some need more help & encouragement than others but most moderately intelligent claimants have a good grasp of their own ability to work, and would far prefer to do so than be dragged through the soul-destroying benefits system.

Of course I can work, as long as the employer doesn't mind me forgetting what I'm supposed to be doing or doing it wrong all the time, falling asleep at any time, being in bed at home for days at a time, not starting till at least 10:30 am, going to the toilet every fifteen minutes, making sure the temperature is a nice constant 22 C, etc, etc......

Go on, gis a job, any job, I can do your job.
    Cheers, David

    Re: ATOS Medical Assessment .

When an animal suffers , they usually kill it - or worse have it in a cage for experiments.

Now we've become the animals in the cage, being experimented on till we become discarded and thrown away.

If this goes on we should at least have the right to euthanasia , its bad enough the NHS is failing , but with no money left at all what hope is there to even seek care or treatment ?

Might as well bite the bullet and save them their cash. ( Im serious )

If we're that much of burden , they wont allow us at least a chance - yet expect us to work ( eve though we cant ) then we already have fascist system.
