Re: what instruments can Hexites play?

Hate to say I'm one of those annoying gits who can just about pick up anything and make a recognisable sound with it, but primarily I'm a guitarist/singer/songwriter. I also dabble in bass (guitar and occasionally double), drums, keyboards, and at school I hit around Grade 7 standard clarinet. Plus I'm also an amateur (hopefully soon to become semi-pro) sound tech.

I could bore you with details of my various rigs, but actually most of my kit's fairly standard and entry level. Best things I've got are probably the two Shure SM58s I picked up off ebay when I put my acoustic PA together

Re: what instruments can Hexites play?

One hell of a necrobump, but I play piano/synth and really enjoy it.

Any others about who play or who perhaps, have taken up playing an instrument recently?

Re: what instruments can Hexites play?

For once, a nice and useful necro

Here's a scary thing - I was designing and building synths in the early/mid 70s. This was my biggest build, a Maplin 4600 !!!

And yes, I know I need a shave and a haircut

G8INA? sounds to me like you may be a Ham Radio operator? I'm only an intermediate 2E0WJR in Hastings, England

I wasn't around back then hehe, that looks like one hell of a synth though haha.

Are you kidding me? I've just looked through this entire thread and thought "oh, cool, I can play something no-one has mentioned yet" and then you show up 25 minutes before me!

Apart from the trombone (which I also dropped after school, though now that I think about it, it's a fairly awesome instrument!) I play drums to a fairly good level, could probably play with a band without too much bother. Sadly, I've never owned much kit except for a set of third hand Roland electric drums, mostly for convenience as I live in a small flat, I've always just played my friends kit. But since I live in a flat it's not like I can have a non-electric kit anyway! My downstairs neighbours would love that.

Sorry man, what are the chances.

I know what you mean, I really found a respect for it when the BBC ran that article showing that the shock waves from it could break the sound barrier!

I used to play Euphonium and Cornet to a decent level and can blow the heck out of a kazoo.

Found the breathing techniques from brass give you a good jump on Didgeridoo as well, but I haven't owned one to practise on enough..

Standard teen angst in suburbia skill set here that I've been honing for nealy fifteen years now I guess. Primarily my time's been spent playing bass guitar followed closely by electric and acoustic guitar and I have also been known to dabble (very poorly) with drums.

Re: what instruments can Hexites play?

As a kid I got to grade 7 piano, grade 6 violin. After moving to London years ago and living in flats, I just couldn't bring myself to be so antisocial and inflict my practice on the neighbours. Not that it stops the idiot upstairs who's learning to play the electric guitar - lose the amp/speakers and plug in some headphones you bloody moron! Grrr...

I'd love to get a nice (i.e. expensive) electric piano that I can plug headphones into. Perhaps this'll be the year...

Yep, licensed since 1973. I still do a bit on HF but nothing on VHF any more.

oh I know that pain.... fortunately the guy who used to live next door to me has moved. He used to do that. So many weekends listening to a car-crash version of Nirvana or similar.... I've been trying to master using a delay pedal. Headphones on for that all the way....

Re: what instruments can Hexites play?

I started to learn the Irish Tin Whistle/Penny Whistle and got good enough to do a few performances on slower stuff, but it's been a while since I practised regularly and never got up to speed for the quicker tunes. Been thinking about picking it up again though.

I also sing, mostly in choirs but did some solo stuff a little. I still regularly sing in church settings but I'm not properly keeping up with practise.

I did start to learn the guitar but quit when I decided that pain:gain ratio was too high.
