I heard a joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life is harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor... I am Pagliacci." Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.

Somewhat relatedly, I was watching Family Guy last night and the episode has Peter being able to turn everything he touches into Robin Williams.
Eerie coincidence.

Gutted, great talent, seemed like a great guy too. RIP.
It is indeed a really sad loss.
Sadly it appears to be a common thing with comedians to suffer from depression. I think they feel a real pressure to be funny all the time, as most people when they meet them ask them to tell a joke.
