1 - Meaning of Messiah - Incorrect. They're the other way around. 'Christ' (Christos) is a translation of 'Messiah'. Having said that, either way, the actual meaning of both, in whichever translation, is 'the anointed (one)'.

2 - Three specific OT passages - I only asked for three, so I'll take your first three, and yes, Isa 53, 2 Sam 7, and the Daniel passage referring to the Son of Man (Chp. 7) are all good. Correct.

3 - Three NT Books dealing with Messiah -
    Hebrews...Romans...Matthew...
    Correct.

    6/7 Correct.

    Oooof. 57. Incorrect.

    17. Who is the actress in the picture portraying Amanda Ripley before Ripleys hearing and what relation is she to Sigourney Weaver? Pass.. Her mother?
Her (late) mother, yes, Elizabeth Inglis.

    18. What is Hicks's tattoo? Pass, no idea. His armour has a stupid heart and locket so maybe something like that?
Incorrect. Would have accepted either 'USCM 527-19-5251', or just that he has his service and serial number on left arm/bicep.

    19. Which film served as the inspiration for Alien and who wrote it?
Not sure, 2001 A space Odessey, Arthur C Clark?
edit: no wait it was that crappy student film thing they rant on about on the bonus DVD. Oh shoot. Nah, pass.
Incorrect. Dark Star (1974), written by John Carpenter and Dan O'Bannon.

    20. How does the Motion Tracker in Alien work? It doesn't, it was special effects. No wonder Lambert couldn't work it.
Erm, I can't remember, something about ionising pulse radiation detecting flucuations and disturbances in air pressure/density or something like that.
Correct. It measures micro changes in air density (explained by Ash).

    Altogether, 1/5 for secondary subject.

    Total - 9/20.

Nice going ik9000. That might have been one of the toughest yet. You demonstrated a good, wide knowledge in just about every subject area and looked on target for a high score but in the end dropped points in missing a few of the multiple part questions. Not an easy one that.

    Well done.

Thanks to Ttaskmaster, Ferral and j1979 for their submissions.

I had almost as much fun compiling questions for this as I did my own Mastermind.
I'm mostly a fan of Aliens... mostly.... but I did try and find a selection of questions about all four movies.

and thank you all, it was a fun one. Galant, I think you were a bit harsh on the translation front, and I'm kicking myself as I had Noah down for the covenants. I should have submitted my first answer instead of asking for clarification. Anyways nevermind, just a bit of fun. What Tattoo, pah! Might as well have asked me the colour of his eyes...

Re: Hexus Mastermind Thread #9 -ik9000 - Prophets vs. Power-loaders

Okies, here are the unused ones I cobbled together:

1/. Which member of the Aliens cast has headbutted Brad Pitt?
2/. What stage of the Xenomorph lifecycle never made it into canon?
3/. Which real world firearms were used in the creation of the M41-A Pulse Rifle?
4/. How many discs are in the DVD Quadrilogy box set?
5/. What has two thumbs, one eye, a pink tongue, and screws like a god?
6/. How many colonists were on LV426?
7/. Give the name of the colony in Aliens and the name (not designation) of the planet.
8/. How long had the Marines been in hypersleep and why was Frost not happy about it?
9/. Who was originally offered the role of Clemens and why?
10/. How many official versions of the Alien3 script (not the screenplays) were there and who wrote them?

    1. No idea.
    2. The cocooned human being "digested" by biomechanical growth into an egg. (Alien directors cut)
    3. Please clarify - the actual weapon or the sound of it?
    4. 9 discs. 2 per film and 1 extra bonus
    5. The cripple wheelchair guy in Alien Resurrection. Rees or something like that.
    6. 238
    7. Oh something Hope... erm Bradleys Hope?
    8. two weeks, not sure exactly, something about how it feels waking up - bad hangover, dry mouth, etc?
    9. I can remember watching that on the bonus dvd but can't remember who. Were they the one who got sick and couldn't meet the shooting schedule?
    10. I seem to recall there were 5 script redrafts. The original script was a timber planet and written by Vincent Ward, but there were some pre-drafts by other people and even when Fincher was directing re-writes were still going on. No idea who wrote each of them.

Re: Hexus Mastermind Thread #9 -ik9000 - Prophets vs. Power-loaders

    1. No idea.
Trevor Steedman (Private Wierzbowski), who played Bomber Harris in Snatch wherein he headbutts Brad Pitt.

    2. The cocooned human being "digested" by biomechanical growth into an egg. (Alien directors cut)
    Yes indeedy!

    3. Please clarify - the actual weapon or the sound of it?
    The actual weapon, please.

    4. 9 discs. 2 per film and 1 extra bonus
    Bang on!

    5. The cripple wheelchair guy in Alien Resurrection. Rees or something like that.
    Vriess, but yes.

    6. 238
157 that died from Burke's actions, plus Newt. 158 in total.
Ripley: You're crazy, Burke, you know that? You really think you can get a dangerous organism like that past ICC quarantine?
Burke: How can they impound it if they don't know about it?
Ripley: Oh, but they will know about it, Burke. From me. Just like they'll know that you were responsible for the deaths of 157 colonists!

    7. Oh something Hope... erm Bradleys Hope?
Hadley's Hope. The planet is called Acheron (LV426), which is shown on Lambert's CRT in Alien.

    8. two weeks, not sure exactly, something about how it feels waking up - bad hangover, dry mouth, etc?
Three weeks and he wanted some leave/time off during which he was not frozen.
Source - Background conversation in the locker scene:
Frost: We gotta have some leave comin'...
Dietrich: What are you talking about, you just had three weeks.
Frost: I'm talkin' 'bout breathin', not this frozen s**t..
I believe some versions include this in the subtitles.

    9. I can remember watching that on the bonus dvd but can't remember who. Were they the one who got sick and couldn't meet the shooting schedule?
Richard E. Grant - Director David Fincher wanted to reunite him with Ralph Brown and Paul McGann, his co-stars from Withnail and I.

    10. I seem to recall there were 5 script redrafts. The original script was a timber planet and written by Vincent Ward, but there were some pre-drafts by other people and even when Fincher was directing re-writes were still going on. No idea who wrote each of them.
There were indeed Five - William Gibson, Eric Red, David Twohy, Vincent Ward and the final version by
    Walter Hill & David Giler.

Re: Hexus Mastermind Thread #9 -ik9000 - Prophets vs. Power-loaders

ok, I'm going to rewatch aliens tonight, I'm sure they state a higher number of colonists elsewhere!

So, seeing as you're a fan, here's something I've wondered. In AR why didn't they make the (almost) normal ripley number 9 and have the weird humo-alien as a derivative of the cloning process eg no8. They could then have preserved alien gestation and lifecycle without the BS "she's making a queen for you Ripley" tosh that ruined the film. Instead no8 could have been discovered/accidentally released at the right moment to still preserve the end sequence... It's all a bit annoying. What a way to ruin a franchise.

Richard E. Grant - Director David Fincher wanted to reunite him with Ralph Brown and Paul McGann, his co-stars from Withnail and I.
WOW lucky break. That would have ruined his character! Can't stand REG. Too smarmy for my liking.

Because the Xeno removed from Ripley 8 carried a hybrid infusion of human and Xeno DNA rather than a pure human infusion, which was then remixed with the gestation sequence of the standard Xeno for the grand reveal of.... the personification of what a waste this movie actually was!

But anyway - Question 3 still unanswered...

The Tommy Gun and a Remmington Wingmaster Shotgun. They were chopped up and encased in the futuristic covering to give the appearance we all know and love.

The sound was derived from a digitally edited M16 assault rifle IIRC. Cameron spent ages getting the frequency EQ tweaked "just right"

edit actually the sound might have been a German MP40 or that may just have been the barrel casing they used. I must rewatch the bonus DVDs... I used to know all this.
