    Re: good office chair?

Try and get a proper office chair.....I did the same many years ago and a couple of years ago replaced one of the armrests after someone snapped one off (cost £10) and this week I got a replacement gas cylinder (£7) after the original died.

Probably could do with some kind of cleaner for the upholstery now....

That's the only regret I have. I didn't go with a leather covered chair which is wipe down (in retrospect I didn't know you could get the Ikea Marcus in black leather). Cleaning the soft upholstery is a PITA.

I wanted one in blue but it wasn't where the catalogue said it would be in the warehouse. It was Sunday PM and the joint was like the bank of the Styx so I ended up just saying stuff it and bought it in black.

    Re: good office chair?

I got mine from Staples they have loads to chose from and best of all you can try before you buy.

Word of warning though check online before you buy because sometimes they have offers that do not apply in store.....

How comfy is that chair? As it does not look like it has much cushion, and i'll be using it for use at home.

I have a Viking Malaga. It's fine I guess. Lumbar support is close to nonexistent. Considering getting a Herman Miller Aeron as an investment for my back.

    Steve!

I am sorely tempted. Is it comfy enough to sit back in? Does the seat hold you in one place? Do you need a small bum?
    Please expand

However I may save the budget toward a height adjustable desk instead.
Where would I find a large height adjustable desk please? My desk is too high. Having read about it a little so far, most desks seem to be too high for keyboard height (even in offices....)

    Thanks both and all

    Re: good office chair?

Just on the topic of a decent chair, I am sorry to have to bump this, but I just broke my office chair (leaning back too hard).

Is the milandirect stuff really the best stuff?

    Re: good office chair?

Thread resurrection... Decided I need a new chair. My one is peeling. Not bad for a hand-me-down 7+ years old, but time to renew.

I've had a few too many bad experiences of ikea recently to even entertain the thought of a Marcus, Macolm or anything else from there. Anyone got any thoughts on /used one of these two (both on prime).

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01EIXNZEC

Like the first one, but worried about the "sweaty" comments. It must have foldable arms so I can play guitar in it.

    Re: good office chair?

My youngest son has the first one (or one identical to it - loads of firms are selling this model). It seems comfortable enough and the PU Leatherette covering is perforated on his, but it lacks adjustment options.

I use a Steelcase Leap V2, which is expensive but very adjustable, and you can drop the armrest height by up to ~6 inches at the push of a button.

    There's a firm on ebay that does the re-upholstered Leap V1 for ~ £160

    Re: good office chair?

I replaced mine last year after 15 years of use. What I wanted was one that could be locked into any position, my previous one could only be on "floating" or bolt up right. I also wanted adjustable arms, so I could get close to my desk.

It's now just a chair, so trying to remember which one it was when I'm not at home is proving tricky, but I think it was this one: https://www.wayfair.co.uk/Portland-H...8-TKK1258.html

Thanks, looks good but I need one where the arms fold out of the way - like a train/airline seat.
