The audience for the next show should wear this T-Shirt

I think it going be a publicity stunt to get more user to watch
I have to wonder if the whole thing is just a publicity stunt, I stopped watching TG years ago when I noticed it getting ridiculous. I think the desert one where Hammond let the car 'accidentally' roll down one of the dunes sealed the deal for me
It took you until then to realise that much of their stuff is staged? This is not a revelation to the bulk of their audience, it's just modern day slapstick, and we still like it. However, if you went through your life thinking it was all spontaneous hilarity, then I feel for you - the disappointment must be crushing.
Time for a change. A fresh new approach. #HirePartridge !

You know it'd be so much better. Anyone got contacts able to pull some strings at the Beeb?
I genuinely think Coogan would make an excellent alternative and could take the show in a different direction. If anyone can make something entertaining without trying to be just like it used to be, he's definitely the man.
He could do the show as Steve Coogan and then have Alan Partridge bits in it... utter genius!
BBC news said there is a petition to get partridge hosting top gear. I have to say, I think the idea is inspired!
Coogan? Defenatly not for me. I remember Top Gear have used Coogan before for a few reviews. When it comes to cars he's a real anorak, far too much like James May. And as a freind of JC, would he want to do it???
If the BBC don't re-instate Clarkson, then the only thing they can do is start again. All new presenters and direction for Top Gear. It's unlikly May and Hammond would do it without JC. They'll all do the current format at another channel with a bigger budget anyway.
I don't see that a format with Coogan would have any longevity to it. The character thing would get boring quickly.
No trees were harmed in the creation of this message. However, many electrons were displaced and terribly inconvenienced.
Coogan would be entertaining for one episode as a guest host but unless they changed the cast and format around him I don't think he could carry it off for much longer than that. Especially if he started bringing his characters into it and that's coming from a fan of Alan Partridge. As for a total reboot if the beeb are willing to go that far I'd rather they change the presenters age range at the same time too and and have guys like Guy Martin and Anthony Anstead at the helm. Maybe keep James May in a cupboard for special occaisions involving NASA and to play at being Fred Dibnah every once in a while.
