... THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE WHAT YOU MAKE AT HOME
In my humble opinion, it has to be Boots' Tuna mayo sandwich at only £1 !

While no where near as cheap as your sarny....I am a fan of the 6" spicy Italian sub with a cappuccino for £3. A total bargain these days.

If you can cope with the garlic breath you're never going to beat instant noodles. Nissin demae ramen are my current preference. They're 49p at the Chinese supermarket over the road.
If it has to be ready to eat. 99p cheeseburger @ McDonald's
The problem with ready prepared sandwich's is the 2 slice ones are too small likewise the cheeseburger.
I try to get to a supermarket and head to the discount fridge (I do this every time I go shopping) passing the discount shelf ends. Its not only the price thing but the limited selection I find to be helpful and you might see something there you haven't tried.
If that fails I'll pick up a baton at about 50p and either some cheap cheese or some pate. For about 1.50 total. A slice or pasty for a pound and a multibag of supermarket own brand crisps for 60-80p usually fills me up.
I can eat obscene amounts but am losing weight atm.
Chippy near work does decent quality chips and gravy for £1.50
Friday treat
Olives?
ASDA Deep Pan BBQ Chicken Pizza + microwave (yes I know that your supposed to oven bake it, but I'm weird) 85p
and my parents get whatevers on special offer in the supermarket discount shelf. after a certain time of day, you can get loafs of warburtons/hovis for 5p plus some of the sandwich meat stuff for a few p, that makes sandwiches for less than 0.1p cant beat that
When I worked just around the corner from an Asda store I used to go in on my way home and buy a sarnie that had been reduced, whack it in the fridge and that was the next days lunch. I could usually pick up a little pot of pasta or sliced fruit in the same section too and basically make a £5 lunch cost less than half that. These days though I'm even more of a cheapskate and I tend to make my own lunch the night before
Our local Tesco does a hot Rowes Cornish pasty for £1.85 which while it isn't super cheap doesn't leave me wondering what to eat next which the cheaper options tend to, and they are really delicious (including the not very traditional Doombar Steak version).
My lunch consists of a BulkPowders.com "Complete Breakfast Smoothie", mixed with water and a small scoop of psyllium husks to keep me regular. Blueberry only, thankyouverymuch. Very tasty.
I'm a big fan of efficiency...
Cost: around 75p.
On a Monday, 02 priority lunch at whsmiths or upper crust

You are a bunch of liars and cheats, we all know that a gregg's sausage roll is the only you can have for lunch *
* might have something to do with being a geordie.
Almost always home-made/left-overs for me. On the days that I have to get something in town there really aren't any super cheap options - but perhaps that's due to lack of planning.
Having said that, despite loving all sorts of foods, I do have a soft spot for really simple food. A tortilla, humus, olive oil and herbs - YUM! Or throw in a chopped boiled egg. Of course, that would be called a 'wrap' in a shop and the price would elevate.
Cheapest lunch for me would be a full lunch at a local place (Soup, roll, drink, main course, dessert) for about £5-6.

Er, why isn't BYOL or made yourself allowed?
As it's clearly the cheapest if done properly. Do it the night before, or in batches or if you're really an early riser that morning. No excuse(s)!
For convenience (there's a branch near the office!) it'd take quite a lot to beat a large jacket potato & hot filling for £1.50 from Costco. Not very helpful to most, but cheap and very tasty.
