    Thunderbirds are go!

Any else risking a trip down memory lane?

It's very slick, but almost too slick. The lack of the jerky puppets and the strings was part of the charm, although it would look very dated now.

Slightly disappointing though. Maybe some things are best left as they were.

Oh no, they've rebooted it again haven't they? Tell me they've at least gotten rid of the horrible Ford Thunderbird as Lady Penelopes motor? Parker shouldn't be forced to drive that colonial rotbox again...

*wanders off mumbling things about how Captain Scarlett was better anyway...*

    No.

Like most reboot attempts, I doubt it could live up to it and would only leave me annoyed at it and feeling that it was tarnishing the name, so I didn't even want to try.

    Re: Thunderbirds are go!

    Nostalgia is best left alone.

I found the original thundercats on YouTube and started to watch it with my 4 yr old after telling him how good it was. It was a complete horror show.

I'm a little bit too young for puppetry but I imagine even the original will not live up to expectations

It is an interesting mixture of animation and practical effects... time will tell if it is any good however.

As an aside the "reboot" of He Man (The New Adventures of He-Man) was better than the original, though I wasn't that keen on the 1st incarnation anyway. Plus the "camp" Skeletor was comedy genius.

I just watched it... I think they've brought it into the 21st century quite well - I noticed the water effects were the same scale as the original - you could tell they were miniatures... I'm going to watch the next few at least and cement an opinion. It does have potential though

I actually liked the New Captain Scarlet TBH - watched a bit of the new Thunderbirds. Music seems a bit too much Hollywoood IMHO!

Can't say I was a fan of the original series, but I check out the new show soon.

    Re: Thunderbirds are go!

The supermarionation was the thing we mocked most all those years ago; it's funny now that we hanker back to when all the Tracy boys walked like Muffin the Mule. I'm reserving judgement on the new series. I watched episode 1 and didn't like Parker looking like a dapper used car salesman and Lady Penelope just wasn't posh enough.

I did like Brains being updated because his stammering used to get on my wick especially when he was explaining things during a crisis. If I'd been Scott or Virgil I'd have worked him over when I got back and told the lab rat to speed it up or he'll fall down more stairs in the future.

Story line was weakish but I have to remember I'm a lot older and more sophisticated now. Well, I'm a lot older.

It'll do for me when I'm eating my grub.

Oh dear, I do believe he went full Grauniad on this bit

what, if you think about it, was really an airborne emergency rescue womb rather than patriarchal phallic rocket
Luckily my patriarchal phallic is blessed with aerodynamic properties and structural benefits suited for travel into orbit.

Or is anything cylindrical look like a nob to this erm, nob.
