Each person has to sign up individually now, not just the head of the household filling in a form as the old days. It takes 30 seconds, providing you know your date of birth and NI number.

just posted my form off for the postal vote. Given how much faff it was it makes me wonder about the benefit of the postal vote, though it spreads the faff to finding a postbox vs being late for work so probably still wins overall.

I've registered for postal voting as I'm not in the country during the election. Actually, I have two postal votes! I think there was bit of a mess-up with me buying a new place; the builders registed me there and I also did the paperwork for moving from my previous place and it stacked, probably becuase one entry had my middle name and the other only the initial. I went online and removed one of myselves from the list!

Polling stations are open very long hours (the one near us did 7-10 last time iirc.) but in any event isn't your employer obliged to release you to vote? Maybe I've been fortunate to work for particularly civic minded employers, but certainly I wouldn't expect to be criticised for being late/leaving early to vote
