Well that's a perfectly reasonable position to take. He is effectively seeking a vote of confidence in him as PARTY leader. Whether he gets it is a matter for the UKIP leadership. In terms of votes he has actually done quite well, so he probably stands a reasonable chance of being re-elected as party leader.

Exactly my position also. Well put.

A friend told me that there is apparently a record number of phallic doodles on ballot papers, which makes me laugh on so many levels. Unfortunately I cant find any official info on it myself.

I might be wrong, but I'm fairly certain labour redrew boundaries when they were in control. Around Hammersmith etc springs to mind.

If I understand correctly the proposal is to aim to make each MP represent approximately the same number of people which seems like a reasonable thing to do, though I'm probably missing some subtlety that means it isn't.... No doubt someone will correct me.

    Regarding hung parliaments,
    1) to plagarise an old Ali-G episode on the legal system, why does it matter how big the MP's members are?
    2) since we don't have a hung parliament what can we therefore conclude about the people who were and weren't re-elected?

Maybe those doodles expressed a desire to see a hung parliament? (Look I'm trying to see the positives here...)

    Bahahahahahha:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdo...ies_will_give/

The first act of the new government - more snooping!!

"A conservative government would be giving the security agencies and law enforcement agencies the powers that they need to ensure they're keeping up to date as people communicate with communications data. We were prevented from bringing in that legislation into the last government because of the coalitions with the Lib Dems and we are determined to bring that through because we believe that is necessary to maintain the capabilities of our law enforcement agencies so they can continue to do the excellent job day in day out of keeping us safe and secure"

Well,England has spoken - they voted Conservative and UKIP and now expect to be treated like monkies, with the odd banana shoved up somewhere.

Unless OFC you are very rich, then I expect a nice large donation will make sure your privacy and rights are respected.

Its going to be so funny when people whine whats going to happen now - I can dangle it in their faces!

So given the choice the people of England have voted to have the continuity of the current lot (flaws, privatisation, snooping and all) rather than gamble on the labour leadership who it seems not enough people had confidence in to give them a go. I don't think it was solely a policy matter this time!

Be careful what you wish for - if seats were distributed to parties based on share of the Vote, UKIP would have 82 seats and significant influence in a Tory/UKIP coalition. Just about the only benefit of FPTP is that it tends to suppress extremist movements. As much as I dislike the thought of another 5 years or Tory austerity and the damage they're likely to inflict on the most vulnerable in society, I'd rather they could do it on their own terms than be pushed around by a significant UKIP block *shudder*...

I agree, but 3.8m votes is a lot! That's roughly the same as SNP and LibDems added together!
