I'd echo that, very frustrating. I once had an interview where they said they'd be in touch "early next week", and I didn't hear anything until the Friday morning (by which point I'd assumed that the opportunity had gone!). It's still pretty poor form though; I was young when that happened and just pleased to have a job offer at all - I think nowadays I'd be a fair bit more stroppy about the delay!
I would simply look for the employer that is most likely to retain you afterwards and not blow you off after a year. Most likely it's 37.5 hour week with either an hour or half an hour for lunch (unpaid).
It has dragged on to the point where I've started filling out the paperwork for the offer I have. They have until lunch time tomorrow to get back to me before I send the contract that I have off.
To be honest I think the contract I have is likely to result in a job offer once I'm finished university. At least they seem to be doing regular placements for students and my contract is extendable, can work a few more months if I want to.
I have been very picky with the placements I have applied to so that any offers I did get would be with companies I would like to work for long term. That did end up causing me a headache last week thinking about which offer I'd accept if both came through.
