Re: What Is Website On About? Just Looking To Buy A Service Manual

    An update,

The seller contacted me with this message.
"Hi, thank you for the kind note. My error and my apologies. I was careless. I will ship the proper one off to you. Sorry for the delay."

Which is nice as he just put his hands up and acknowledged his error. So I hope in 10'ish days from now I will finally get the service manual I want.

I think in the future I will make sure I can easily get the supporting information and parts before taking on a project.

You have my full permission, I can't recall hearing or seeing this anywhere else. So I believe this is an original piece of work by myself.

I found this family crest look up site. https://www.houseofnames.com/nameSearch which not knowing how accurate it is, but a bit of fun nonetheless.

Assuming it happens, it somewhat restores your faith in mankind .... well, okay, just internet buying, doesn't it?

I bought some ebooks from a bloke in the States a few months back. Excellent service, and very good (by him) books, too. I bought some photography bits from a Chinese firm, and not only did the bits never arrive, but no answer to emails either. Fortunately, it was a test purchase (a filter, and a couple step-up rings, total value about £3) so I wasn't overly bothered. And they didn't get the much bigger order that otherwise might have followed. A UK company did, though.

Anyway, glad it appears to be working out okay.

Thank you I actually did google it, in full, & in quotes, as it was so convincingly a 'thing' I thought it must already exist. Inspired, anyhow.

Pleased to hear the manual is on its way.

This is always my tack with poor service for small stuff; they don't know I wasn't poised to put £1000s of business their way, either directly or by recommendation. I'm not, most likely, but I might be.

^ Couldn't see why that didn't match this: til I realised the 'have' makes all the difference. As a motto, the present tense is possibly 'right' - but the original text conveys the weight of upsets past. Plus it's snappier in translation. Sigged for posterity.

Like I say, it's very much a long shot, but .....
Today I got an email from Hitachi in reply to the rather tedious web enquiry form I filled in,

"Thank you for your enquiry, please find attached a copy of the service manual requested, please be aware that given the age of the product we are unable to supply any parts.
    Kind Regards,
Sarah Moloney, Marketing Assistant, Hitachi Digital Media Group"

So after all I have been through and money spent. I could have got what I wanted by just asking the company in question.

I am very impressed, that not only they helped me but they still had the information for a 38 year old cassette deck.

If anyone in the future needs a free PDF copy for a Hitachi D-550 Cassette Deck, just let me know.

Oh :/ well that's a win:win or a win:bit of a bummer, depending on how you look at it. Glad you're sorted twice over & well done Hitachi (and Saracen).

Did you throw yourself into the project the minute manual no. 1 arrived, and at least get a vital week's head start? looking for the positive
