Want to take up a 2nd Job - Looking to increase my income!

Currently looking at Courier jobs with Yodel? Anyone here done it? If so, how did you start off?

As I need my own form of transport, I currently drive but don't thnk they want me going about delivering in a family car?

The reason I'm looking at courier is simply because I enjoy driving. I'm trying to see if it's possible if I can fit it in with my present FT job.

If anyone however has any other recommendations, please bring forward your input. Would be more than welcome!

I wouldn't recommend yodel based on stories I've heard but i think other delivery companies could be a good way to go if you are in need of extra income.

What stories have you heard? I've applied to DPD, FedEx etc but none of them have anything going atm.

Personally ive had 2 parcels delivered by yodel, one arriving early unpackaged (spoiling a surprise) and the other unpackaged, arriving a day late too.

Hermes have a decent delivery service as far as im aware so you could look there since they are a smaller company on the large scale of things.

Hermes, deliver a parcel requiring a signature to a random address leaving it over a garden gate that doesn't exist. Oh what fun I had claiming for that!

speak with an temping agency. the big driving firms will not take a driver on with no commercial experience of. if possible try and find out which agency DPD use for example, try and get the agency to put you in there and make an impression, honestly though I don't think they employ part timers but I could be wrong.

if you use your car then don't forget to update the insurance and be prepared to pay more to keep it in good running order. good luck

They hire temps but not yet, when the xmas rush hits.

Try and find out who Amazon logistics use as they seem half decent at the moment.

I've applied for Royal Mail. Got my parents to speak to someone they know who works for DPD.

See how I get started etc. I've heard some of the salaries these folk make isn't that bad at all!

Can't view this in work. But as for Yodel, I've never had an issue with them. I used them for years. I must be one of the lucky ones as I've never had an issue with Royal Mail either.
