Re: Govs new Online Passport Application ?

Can't get to any bit where it requires an e mail address without proceeding down the application route, which I a reluctant to do. However it is a beta application so there may be a snag, or it may not accept certain types of e mail addresses that are known to be used for suspicious activities. A lot of spammers use gmail addresses for example, simply because they are easy to obtain.

Re: Govs new Online Passport Application ?

When you say it's not accepting, do you get a specific error? Along the lines of what peterb said I've had to use my ISP address for a couple of things where it was refusing 'free' email addresses (including one I actually paid for funnily enough ), though it's often just for initial confirmation and you can change it to something else afterwards.

IIRC I used this last year, after making a balls up of the paper applications and it worked a treat.

It also cuts out any sections that don't apply to your application, where as the paper one has everything on it to "cover all bases".

It said that last year when I used it, but it doesnt say if its being updated from time to time or theyre just looking for problems to fix later.

Strangely I recall that as well.

Doing a bit on online swotting, DirectGOV used to have this facility, this google cache page shows service even existed in 2009.

I think the BETA tag on GOV.UK is due to how the DirectGOV service transferred to or has become GOV.UK and still being tested!? (GOV.UK launch news).

Right at the bottom of the webpage is "Is there anything wrong with this page?" , have you tried reporting it?
