After the most incredible career...the most astounding life of change and of amazing talent......David Bowie has died.

From Ziggy Stardust.....to Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence....to a hit with Tina Turner!! Such diversity is..... Awe inspiring.

The world is a,sad place today.

My first musical memory is with David Bowie and Mick Jagger singing dancing in the street.

He is now a Starman waiting in the sky.

Many happy memories of the last family holiday I had with my parents, at a Butlins place in Cornwall, "Life on Mars" and "Frankenstein" (E Winter) was virtually all we played all week on the club jukebox.

Never been a committed fan, I dont own any albums, but cannot deny the influence he has had on so much of modern music !

One of my first memories of him was Space Oddity and I remember during the 80's Let's Dance used to bug me a bit as it was very different to a lot of the music at the time, over the past few years though I have really got into him with listening to Absolute 80's nearly all day everyday.

Feels like a bit of my childhood has died. Although I was never a great fan at the time, the music is so evocative of the 70s and 80s and has grown on me - perhaps as my musical tastes have developed. But listening to some of the great tracks brings back vivid memories of times and places.

Another legend gone, and one who seemed to be going on for ever. however, he will live on with his musical legacy.

I only knew his work through mgs phantom pain but ended up listening to the man who sold the world hundreds of times. He was a great artist RIP.

Like several others have said, I was never a huge fan, in the sense of buying albums as they came out, or trekking around to concerts, though I do like most of his work. Iconic is a word often overused in obit-type conrexts, yet for Davie Bowie, it's accurate.

A true star, and a great loss, in my opinion.
