Unofficial Hexus Brexit Straw Poll - In, Out, Undecided?

Anonymous straw poll on the Brexit Referendum.

    PLEASE READ

Since some here might not be eligible to vote I've added two parts - Eligible and Ineligible - so that interest can be gauged among those who can't vote - too young etc.

IN - Means you would rather Britain remains IN the EU. It's a vote to remain in the EU.

OUT - Means you would rather Britain left the EU. It's a vote to get out of the EU.

Undecided - Means you're not sure how you'll vote to the extent that you couldn't pick either way right now.

Be interesting to see what Hexus as a whole thinks, although it's obviously unlikely to be a representative sample of the population. Shame we can't tag demographics on to the poll, but I suspect YouGov will start their straw polls on the issue before long (if they haven't already) and that could be quite telling.

Re: Unofficial Hexus Brexit Straw Poll - In, Out, Undecided?

I've voted undecided - I don't feel like I've had enough truth/hard facts about either option to make a decision. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to get it either.

With a gun to my head, I'd vote out because I don't trust the kinds of people who are saying we would be better in. Not that I particularly trust some of the people saying we would be better out.

There was quite an interesting MSE poll last October with some demographics attached:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/pol...stay-in-the-eu

    And in 2014:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/pol...european-union

    And a non-demographic from 2009:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/pol...aw-from-europe

I haven't done any data analysis / number crunching but I'm sure there are some interesting titbits in there. If I get time later I might have a look through.

Re: Unofficial Hexus Brexit Straw Poll - In, Out, Undecided?

There is a lot of people talking about getting control back from the European overlords.... from my perspective I would prefer the limitations, protections and standards that the EU brings with it.

If it looks like we are going to exit, I doubt it will be long before I do the same.

Eligible out for me. I would list the reasons but it would be very very very long. And some would just not agree and derail the thread.

Interesting. So it's the older members of the populace that are more pro Brexit. Not a surprise because IIRC 65% of UKIP voters are white male pensioners.

So, not content for continuously voting in governments that "spend now, save nothing for later" and leaving the next generation to pick up the debt and finance their "triple lock" pensions.
Not content with being NIMBYS all their lives creating a housing shortage and boosting the value of their homes that they own whilst denying the next generation affordable housing.
Now they want to screws the economy over by voting for Brexit. Not because of the economic arguments. Not because of the profoundly un democratic nature of the way of a lot of decision making is done within the EU. Not because of the corruption that is rife. No. It's because deep down they are racist old gits!
Their parents fought for their freedom, often with their lives.
They fought to spend money they didn't have on things they couldn't afford to impress neighbours they don't even like.
Leaving their children to fight for a place in line at a food bank.

    Thanks baby boomers!

P.S. the above is not entirely serious.

EU membership for a new state would have to be applied for.

On the other hand, I think it's more likely the opposite will occur, in which case Hexus can easily separate from the UK and get its wish
