"But one key part is still missing and volunteers are still searching for it." Anyone got something that "looks like an electric motor in black casing with two shafts on each side" in the shed?

Indeed I haven't seen any article yet that gives more detail on the ebay listing, why the £9.50 figure was chosen by the owner (as starting auction price?) etc.. such a lovely looking thing, you could have £9.50 of my money for it any day on aesthetics alone. Apparently the NMC were not fully aware what they had got their hands on until after purchase - "the Lorenz teleprinter was thought to be a relatively common commercial Lorenz teleprinter. Its military origins came to light only when it was being refurbished."
It would be kinda cool if the motor came to light through the recollection of the gentleman who fixed in his mind having seen one in his Head's office while receiving '6 of the best'! http://www.richardhartley.com/2016/0...-sale-on-ebay/

Problem is that the Lorenz machine was based mechanically on teleprinter mechanisms, and for design reasons there are lots of twin shaft motors that are similar in design. Whether a genuine one will be found is questionable, but then there are lots of sheds about!
