Just to point out that during the Scottish referendum No. 10 campaigned for remain, but had a plan already set for if Scotland voted to leave (it had a time table and everything). It is also the job of the ruling party to enact/negotiate any change in UK law (thats what they won an election to be able to do).

I remember a newspaper suggesting that the depreciated pound would encourage British to spend their holiday here, helping the local economy.
(It also said that it would increase tourists from overseas.. though going by the recent reports on hostilities towards foreigner looking people, regardless of whether they are migrants, tourists or British, I would reconsider my holiday destination. Well, with some luck, most tourists won't be as concerned as I am but we'll see..).

But the 'Leave' campaign people didn't. They were pitching Scotland owning the North Sea oil (Which is now not worth anything like as much) and automatic entry to the EU. It would be interesting to see if Europe might allow an independent Scotland to join now, as a show of punishing the UK.

yeah i agree "scottish leave" had very little that they said that they actually could guarantee would happen, it really is not very different. As for Scotland and the EU, I get the feeling that with spain having a similar Catalan issue, they would veto Scotlands automatic entry so as not to fan their own flames.

There could be some kind of cold war between the UK and EU in future with each side trying to pinch each others small countries. Denmark and Sweden could be on the way out in the medium term and could see the UK as a partner to pair up with outside. The EU could encourage Scotland to vote for independence and join them. They might have their eye on Scotland's oil already and Scotland is also strategically placed as a jumping off point into the North Atlantic.

If they really wanted to put the cat among the pigeons they could offer/arrange, whatever you want to call it, for Scotland to take over the UK's membership status.
Not that it's probable, or even possible (idk), but it would certainly cause an upset.

Re: Britain is doomed!! (How is that going to affect you)

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-br...-idUSKCN0ZD2EM

Ratings agency Standard & Poor's hit Britain with a two-notch downgrade to its credit rating on Monday and warned it could cut it further after Britons voted to leave the European Union last week.

"The negative outlook reflects the risk to economic prospects, fiscal and external performance, and the role of sterling as a reserve currency, as well as risks to the constitutional and economic integrity of the UK if there is another referendum on Scottish independence," S&P said.

S&P had been the only major ratings agency to maintain a triple-A rating for Britain.
    https://www.theguardian.com/business...-business-live

S&P’s two-notch downgrade comes hot on the heels of Moody’s, which downgraded the UK’s outlook to negative on Friday night.

Reuters’ Luke Baker points out that the agencies are moving with unusual speed:

During eurozone debt crisis, S&P, Moody's and Fitch normally waited until Friday to issue downgrades. Monday and S&P moved on UK already
Losing the Triple-A credit rating might not have any immediate impact on Britain’s ability to borrow.

That’s because worried investors have been keen to buy UK government bonds since the Brexit crisis erupted, driving borrowing costs down to record lows.

But it’s a humiliating moment for the government, which put ‘repairing the public finances’ at the heart of its strategy (not always successfully).

Moody’s and Fitch both downgraded the UK in 2013. S&P maintained the AAA through the eurozone debt crisis, but has now lost the faith.
S&P really hasn’t held back -- this is a TWO-NOTCH downgrade, from AAA to AA, completely bypassing the AA+ rating.

At least we are saving £350...sorry £190 million a week which can be spent on the increased longterm interest repayments!

    Indeed.

Sad thing about Corbyn, despite the fact that I'm not convinced that he has the charisma to really make it as a solid political leader, he's the most honest of all of them.
