Re: Anyone got a new polymer Fiver yet?

Disappointed in them. They are supposed to last longer, but I went into the pub and bought a pint and a packet of crisps and it lasted no longer than a paper one.

    Very underwhelmed..

I think I've found a bug in the design. I thought I would test this longevity issue with some personal research and when I went to purchase my 9th pint I found the transaction did not occur. Even worse I was ejected from the programme entirely!

It looks like the new fivers ain't so indestructible, people have been getting them hot with some rather amusing results.

    Could be a Wetherspoons...

One of the real pleasures of my life at the minute is having several pubs within walking distance where a fiver will get you 2 pints plus change (and one where it'll get you three pints ).

I first saw the polymer notes in Cancun about 8 years ago. God socked in my pocket while jetskiing and came out fine . Good idea in my book but not seen any yet.

Re: Anyone got a new polymer Fiver yet?

Heh, within 10 minutes of posting in this thread I got a new fiver in my change from the train station. Only an AC serial though, so I doubt it's worth more than face value. They're kind of pretty, but as with all significant changes to notes/coins they don't feel like real money yet; give them a couple of years and I suspect we'll not even notice them...!

A pint for less than £1.70. God job I don't know where you live as I probably drink too much as it stands when I'm buying £3 drinks!

To be fair you'd have to neck a fair few of those to get drunk as it's a smaller beer than standard (2.8%). Perfect for rehydration after a good climbing session, though

Quite springy - I was holding one by lightly squeezing the long edges and somehow managed to ping it - went about 3 foot.

I reckon he looks constipated. I pointed this out to my wife, who replied "Churchill always looked constipated".

I mean, yes, he did, but I reckon he looks even more constipated on the new fiver...

Haven't gotten one yet so I can't judge, although I have used plastic money before on my trip to vietnam and it seemed fairly durable. I'm not too bothered tbh as long as I can spend it!
