Actually, the season of Advent runs from the 4th Sunday prior to Christmas (at least for western Christian traditions, it's longer for some Eastern traditions). So, depending upon the calendar, Advent/Christmas can run into November as it did this year and last, which makes it 28 days at least.

My plans for organising the nuclear bomb shelter I'm going to hibernate in are at an advanced planning stage. Food is stored and ready. I have an extensive pile of DVDs and boxed sets laid on, and a large collection of books, both paper and ebooks. Both internet lines and TV lines are cut. All I have to do now is get inside, and set the timeswitch on the blast-proof doors for a period suitably post-xmas.

What would I like for Christmas? A Klingon cloaking device so I can hide even the location of my blast doors.


Decorations? Bah, humbug.


Or, in the real world .... decorations? None.

I drive past this most days. They haven't got them up this year yet...



To be fair, they do have a charity collection pot for people that bring their kids to have a look...

I like a tree in my living room. And I like decorations in my son's room...he has specific ones he's bought over the years and he likes them in his room
But to decorate your house with 1kw of bulbs when everything people try to do is normally to SAVE energy not spend it ... bemuses me

We'll never get that energy back. I know some of it is from renewables...but not much. Most is fossil fuel powered.

I do wonder how the Griswold's will be viewed in 100 years time if we're running low on energy.

Tree isn't up yet, got to get the baby changing mat put away first and my Mrs is dragging her feet on that as it's more convienent than over the cot.
