But why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?

Re: Do you do something, and you can't remember why?

I frequently walk into another room and forget why, walk back to where I was then 10 seconds later remember why I needed to go into the other room (often the kitchen). More rarely I'll do that more than once before actually doing whatever I needed to do. That's happened as far back as I can remember...

I find physical location often helps with recalling particular items of info; it's why memory skill practitioners often advocate the "memory palace" model of memorising and recalling facts. There may also be the flip side at work here, in that changing location (room) involuntarily changes your memory context so much that what you needed to be aware of has inadvertently disappeared from reach. Often just changing between browser tabs does that to me.

Or doing something but then forgetting whether you have already done it, so having to check (potentially more than once).

I often have very short term memory loss.

I could be about to open a tuna can and place the can opener near me and then I seem to have forgotten where I put it and have to scan around to find it.

My short term memory is like swiss cheese; it can be so bad I exit my room, feel tired and go back to sleep... well not often but I do use that excuse on the weekends

Re: Do you do something, and you can't remember why?

if its late at night and I'm going up the stairs I think a big shark monster is going to run up the stairs behind me.
That comes from watching Jaws when I was 9 and thinking jaws lived under the floorboards in the hall.

I also think there's someone looking through the window on the mini-landing (15ft above ground) who controls the jaws monster, so if I look at him I then have to run the rest of the way back to my room.
no idea why I do that.

also have to leave the bathroom before the toilet finishes flushing or a toilet monster will crawl out and pull me in.

and then there's me constantly thinking there are 'things' staring at me, silently judging. like the aliens in M. Night's Signs.
unsure whether it happened before that film or because of it.

Now that's just daft, for a mature, sensible, intelligent adult.

MOVE HOUSE, and let the Shark Monster be some other poor bu....beggar's problem.

    Come on, man .... think!!!!

P.S. Also, for pities sake, stop watching scary films while you can still function.
