    Account deletion

Hi - In the forum setting, if I delete my profile, will that delete my entire account?

Yes it is. It is asking for a confirmation code, which I do not have. Can anyone help?

    Re: Account deletion

Where exactly are you seeing this 'delete' option?

I could be wrong, but I think "profile" delete is more likely to just delete the account's descriptive data, like location, custom title, social media links, system specs, etc.

As far as I'm aware, the ONLY place a user account can be deleted is in the admin control panel. But therein lies part of a possible confusion - as options visible depend on user account type, g8ina and I will both see lots of options you won't, including quite a few delete options.

    Re: Account deletion

For a standard user in Vbulletin

Settings > Profile > Delete profile

There is a confirmation button and it says you'll receive a confirmation email.

It's not worded particularly well and seems to not properly declare the difference between an Account and a Profile. I'd expect my account to be removed (or at least marked as inactive).

Simplest thing to do is change your email address & password to something random and don't look back.

Your 3 posts aren't particularly incriminating.

    Re: Account deletion

If you really want nothing more to do with HEXUS (shame ) then it is relatively easy for admins to give a ban, that effectively removes you. May leave some details behind though...

May I ask why you want to be deleted ?
    Cheers, David

    Re: Account deletion

I'd also like my account deleted, as I don't seem able to unsubscribe from old threads I've posted in. In face I don't seem to be able to access much of my account/profile at all.

I've just had my deletion conformation code emailed to me, but once typed in I'm told 'This email address is not correct'. Can any admins help at all?

    Re: Account deletion

You can unsubscribe from threads. To do this:
    1) Go to Quick Links->Subscriptions (orange menu button at top of the page, then drop-down list).
    2) In the table that appears tick the box on the right hand side of the list of subscribed threads for those you want to unsubscribe from (or edit the notification settings for)
    3) Go to the bottom of the list and find the button marked "selected threads". Click on this and a menu appears.
    4) select "Delete Subscription" to remove your subscription to the thread - this leaves the posts you've made but it will no longer appear in your subscription list and will stop you getting further notifications by email
    5) the bottom section of the pop-up menu list allows you to change the email notifications while still remaining subscribed to the thread when you're logged into the forum.

Also if you're being bombarded by emails re forum thread updates remember to change the default auto-notification settings in your profile to suit your preference for whether you want any, and if so how frequently you want them. This default setting will apply to ALL threads, rather than having to do each one individually as above.

NOTE FROM A MAN WHO KNOWS-

before deleting yourself, go back through your old posts and ensure there's nothing you want to delete BEFORE nuking your account ..cos once done that's you lot.

You can sort the email notifications easily.

    Re: Account deletion

This post asked a question, which has been answered.

While it is always a matter for regret when someone decides to do this, I don't think it is appropriate for their motives to be questioned, or be the subject of speculation.

Best wishes for those leaving was entirely appropriate, but again a thread has been derailed by petty sniping.

    Thread closed.
