    Basically, DO NOT speed more than twice the speed limit.

    As I understand it this increase is only relevant for those cases that go to court - its a change in the sentencing guideline. I don't think it applies to fixed penalties.

    essentially if you have been speeding enough over the limit to warrant a court case , then you are going to get hit hard than previously

    Correct. The change is that the guideline for top band offences (typically around 50% over the limit) is now 175% of weekly income rather than 125%. Nothing else has changed, but everyone is going berserk anyway.
    If you're not driving like a lunatic it shouldn't affect you.
