    Re: Becoming baffled with technology.

I'm baffled that I can't get what I want. For example, a single box speaker with apt-x bluetooth, built-in chromecast audio, replaceable lithium-ion batteries, excellent sound quality, waterproof and can be connected to the mains as well for a reasonable price.

    Bluetooth / wireless / wired / homeplugs
NAS? That's sooo 2015! The big companies are pushing online subscription services like Spotify, Google Play Music, Amazon Music. No ripping, storage, codec details etc to think about.

the problem with those is that horrible word subscription. ONLY £30 per month.... I'd rather buy CDs rip to FLAC and AAC and go NAS.

A NAS stores music you've bought, the services you mentioned are for music you've rented.

    Re: Becoming baffled with technology.

Technology has become more baffling because it's more profitable to have a lot of different standards rather than to have one company who gets their product to market first define the entire genre.

On top of that, we're seeing more and more "black box" technologies, where everything is obfuscated from the end user, which makes it more difficult to build an understanding of how something works through experimentation.

    Re: Becoming baffled with technology.

last week, I came to work for HEXUS fulltime.

In the last week I have been swamped by tech...utterly swamped. The trick is to just ...absorb, and use it. Try it and sack it off if you don't like it. This office is crammed with tech.. it's everywhere. I found an intel quad core PC in a little stick in little blue intel carboard box. I installed Intels' keyboard app on my phone.. pluged the HDMI stick into my TV at home, and ran the little power cable.

Windows 10 booted on my TV and my phone screen acted as a mouse and keyboard.

I had a 32gb storeage, 2 gig ram, quad core Atom with a USB port and a micro sd slot, smaller than a calculator running Win 10.

    And it's old tech

So I assume know you will be able to get a monster PC for, ahem,"work purposes"!

    Congrats on your new role!
