paypal problems (or general internet payment)

    Hi,

has anyone been having problems with paypal or basiclly buying stuff on the internet.

yesterday and still today I'm having intermitant problems paying for stuff online.

for example, I've just paid for 2 items via paypal, one for £50 and the other for £2.95 the £50 went through ok, but the 2.59 says "unable to verify your card through security" yet its the same card.

I then payed for another item on paypal for £40 and it went through, went back to do the £2.95 one and it says the same error.

I've tried to send a hexus user £104 and it comes up with the same "unable to verify card" error, yet I've checked my bank balance and there is more then enough money there.

Last night I couldn't order a pizza from dominos for £12 but managed to pay my gas and electricity bills for £200 in total.

the problem doesn't seem to be funds related but certain transactions are failing ?

    Anyone else having problems ???

    It is Inevitable.....

Sounds like a problem with your card mate, phone your bank and see what they say, you may have a letter in the post already.

what do you mean by a letter in the post ?

I've spoke to the bank and they can see no reason for the card to be a problem. There is cash in the bank, no problems with the card, and as I said it "sometimes" works but it appears to not work with certain transactions, which have nothing to do with value or location.

this cards worked fine all year.

Thats why I was thinking there could have been a bigger problem with say a major payment gateway ???

Ive been having pretty much identical problems with my current account card (HSBC debit card).
Transactions at komplett / scan / et all for a few hundred quid were going through fine, but it was rejected at the train station, at work, but worked fine in cash machines.
This was happening for about a week. Let them knew, and they sent me a new card. Have not had the problem since. The woman at the bank hinted I wasn’t the only one to have the issue, and she was fairly sure it was linked to chip and pin.

this is a chip and pin card and has been working fine for months, I could understand it if all transactions where causing a problem, but some biggers ones are fine, and its mainly the one in paypal for £2.95 thats got me stumped.

I have spoke to the bank and they can see nothing wrong, but no harm in trying again.

    thanks,

    Matt

Be warned PayPal DO NOT offer support for virtual items that are purchased on the internet, basically anything physical you buy from ebay they give support for!

Somebody managed to get access to my paypal account about 3 days ago. They had transferred $60 to another account which I knew nothing about. I also found out shortly after that they had gain access to my email as well. Contacted paypal and they have frozen the transactions went to the bank today to see if I could cancel the payments and cancel the card. Paypal have told me that they should be able to send the money back to me. Guess it will teach me to be more secure.

Mine was fine for ages to, then it just started happening. This was only about 2/3 weeks ago.
Is it just with Paypal ?, if not, keep pestering them untill they fix it, even if they claim to see nothing wrong with it (exactly what i was told too !)
