So my gums are growing over my molars on one side of my mouth :(
I usually eat on the left side of my mouth only (not sure why, habit i suppose), which has never really caused problems.
As of late i've been trying to use my right side to even things out a little, but its awkward, like learning how to chew again. Anyway, just the other day i noticed i couldn't bite all the way anymore because some tissue was jamming up the back of my mouth between my molars. I looked in the mirror and both top and bottom molars are getting covered up by my gums, and worst of all, somehow my inner cheek at the back has joined on to another tissue behind the teeth creating a small link between the top and bottom teeth, it hurts when it try to bite properly since it's like biting right into my cheeck ![]() I have a doctor's appointment next week for something else, i'll mention this problem too, but i suppose its something the dentist handles? Anyone had this gums growing over teeth problem? Know the cause? |

When the gum covers the tooth, it's called an "impacted tooth" (don't ask me why!)
It happened to one of my wisdom teeth, making it impossible to clean and eventually it rotted away. Anyhow, yes, it's a dental surgery issue.

,No idea how this happened, i've been taking better care of my teeth now than ever before. It must have been that i was trying to chew with the other side. I'm 19, going to Uni in september, are Dentist bills that expensive? |

That does explain the feeling i get occasionally the past year where the bit of gum behind my last molars would swell and i couldn't quite bit all the way, but it didnt hurt back then

Ithink it's your Wisdom teeth mate, had the same sort of thing two gummy mounds at the back for a while ....sorted itself out in the end.
BrOw BTW found this: toothy linkage might be of interest should the need arise!!! ![]()

If you've been a regular visitor to the dentist, then you should still qualify for NHS help (i think). If you have to pay, it'll bring tears to your eyes. Just had to pay £60 for a check up, £175 to have a tooth extracted, and have 3 visits with a Hygenist at £70 a time. If you can, wait till you're back in education! |

Im scared of my local dentist. Only one accepts NHS now the other have all gone private I think. The dentist bloke in that one hardly speaks a word of english (he is russian I think) and doesnt give the impression that he is very experienced and he seems to enjoy drilling!! ![]() Ill be 19 in December. Currently unemplyed (by chioce, I am however still paying rent etc.. from money saved while in work. I will be looking for a job again before it runs out). Would I still qualify for NHS if I needed it? Last edited by SilentDeath; 22-05-2005 at 01:34 PM.. |
