    Eight-legged lodgers on the move

    Linky: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4218436.stm

I know that the link is talking about Northen Ireland, but I thought I'd just talk about the subject anyways.

I've noticed in the last year or so there has been so VERY big spiders coming in our house, especially in the last month or so, think of daddy long legs, but about 2-3 times bigger, with much bigger bodys.. ya.

Scared the crap out of me the other day, I was sitting down watching TV and one crawled up my bloody arm, I jumped up at about a billion mph and squatted the bugger with the first thing I could get my hands on, a cookery book!

You should put a warning on the link to say it contains a picture of a spider!

I saw one of those bastards in my room the other day.... I tried to catch it but it moved so fast... It ran behind my hifi cabinet and I've not seen it since.... Got into bed and wondered if I'd wake up dead, it having eaten me or something ...... Either that or I digested it during the night

lol, a few months ago one was crawling on my wall, it must of came through the window.

anyways, I couldn't find it because I left the room to get tissue paper to kill it, I woke up in the morning and found it dead at the end of my bed (under the duvet), I didn't know what it was at first, it was all curled up, it looked sort of like cotten *shivers*.

I don't kill insects. Even big spiders. Unless they hurt me first. Like wasps. I just try to catch them and put them out the window or something. That is if I can catch them They're too fast for me

Does a general regard for your fellow creatures indicate a higher regard for your fellow humans? Or do people who help bugs generally dislike their fellow (wo)man? Are we all becoming Budhists? Why can't we kill a fly, but we'll happily devour half a cow? 'Cause it makes us feel bad to kill something? But it's alright for someone else to do it.....

I treat people how I like to be treated, so if a spider was bigger than me I guess I'd be mince meat.

for those not fortunate enough to have seen it already

luckily only had 2 of those so far in my room ,but if i would get off my arse and fill in the hole where the network and phone cables exit through the outer wall then i could stop them from getting in my room all together

holy crap, what is that scorpion spider thing??? looks like its half eaten its mate or something!

I'm pretty good with spiders and other animals in the house - our cats bring in a few things, had a bat last week anything too large gets caught by them.

Only a few things i've gone on a mission to kill: a rat in the garage last year (I shut the cats in there with it until it was cornered and then hit it with a 3ft staff) and two spiders, one I saw in the kitchen around 10 years ago, small black and shiney and very evil looking, and went 'crack' when squashed. Then a week after that the the biggest spider I have seen in my life - absolutely crapped myself - was on the wall about 10cm from my head as I was watching TV in the dark, felt like I was being watched. It deserved to be in one of those 'dead spider cabinets' went to get the trusty staff but had sensibly gone by the time I was back. If I had tried a newspaper, it would of caught it and hit me with it!!
