| Blackberry week No..not blummin mobile phone's... REAL BLACKBERRY'S ![]() I have been picking them while walking my dogs every morning for a week, but the mammoth rain we had in Bucks a few days ago, and now the warmish heat...has ripened and plumped them up a treat! So...if you still enjoy the whole fruit picking thing, the memories of trips out with your parents when you were a kid (like my Dad used to do with me) and the resulting jam or thick sauce making with the bags of resultant fruit.... NOW is the time ![]() This morning there were so many I was suffering target rich enviroment syndrome, where yo udon't know which ones to pick, and you pick less and drop more than when there's only a few! And don't forget the rules! Never pick ALL the ripe fruit of the branch, always leave ONE ripe blackberry on the branch, as it will help the others non ripe ones to ripen faster. Don't take a thing polythene bag, cos you'll get it half full and then a blackberry bramble thron will grab at it, trying to recapture the fruit you've stolen from it, and the lot will fall out of the hole in the tesco bag! Eat every 10th one....cos you can ![]() They all taste different, from bush to bush, and that's the beauty of fresh british fruit picking ![]() Good luck Blackberry Pickers of the UK ![]() Go get your bowls, and some cream! ![]() Agent = Hardware Homosapien | Zak33 = Hardware Homonid - just call me "Lucy" |

| Had our first blackberry feast on bank holiday weekend. Loads in the woods and on the common, and we have cultivated ones on the allotment. Also lots of neighbours leave surplus apples at their drive entrances, blackberry and apple cumble, YUM |
