Trading on HEXUS via PM only - or unsolicited mail - All read please

    Hi all,

It has come to my attention that we may have a scammer in our midst, now whilst I can and will ban the person involved there may be alternative ways for the user to resurface - for example this is not restricted to HEXUS.net, but has happened across a number of the top PC hardware sites.

I need to make it perfectly clear that you should deal with no-one offering you any sort of computer parts who does not have at least one of the following:
    • A respectable post count on HEXUS community (+25 posts minimum)
    • A HEXUS.trust profile
    • A thread on the classified forums advertising the goods for sale
    • An address in your local country (except EU)

This is for your own protection and you are urged to not communicate with anyone via PM or email who is offering computer parts at cheap prices.

I am sure that the majority of you are internet savvy and the likelihood of you being caught out is slim but we felt obliged to make you all aware that this is happening.

Whilst HEXUS Ltd. cannot be held accountable for anything you do, we do value you all and we want to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable experience here - so please be on your toes and make sure you only trade when the criteria are met and you feel comfortable with the transaction.

    Many thanks,

    Matt
    On behalf of HEXUS.net

    Sometimes a little aint enough...

I've been had by scammers on other forums. Nasty stuff.

Cheers for the heads up. Sad that it needed saying, but worth it.

Anyone can spam their way to 25 posts, or even 100 if so be it.

I only trade with people whos been about a bit, people like Daveham, Donny John, stevethrethasla (cant spell your name mate ) as I've traded with them before and I know there not going to rip me off and run away.

Best bet is to check thier feedback, hexus, or if not hexus something like ebay, and get them to send you an email from their ebay account to prove its them.

I think it's best and it's not that much hassle to type in a short message everytime ya sell something.

    Thanks for the warning anyhow...

    Dont trade with that imposter

While checking feedback is a good idea there are legit users without it such as newer members or those who sell less.

When buying anything over a tenner on a forum and anything over 10p on ebay always insist on a photo of the actually item because 99% of the time a scammer cant provide this.

Thx for the heads up. I recently avoided paying a fraudster on ebay selling cheap gfx cards
( b'stard left me -ve feedback too!)

All the folks on Hexus are nice folks - always a shyster around to spoil it for eveyone.

    Keep up the good work.
