Anyone else having probs with Firefox?

Ive been using Firefox for about 18 months now and all was fine up until about 3 versions ago. the current version that i have (1.5.0.3.) seems to be the worst so far.

    some of the problems include;

random freezing when more than a couple of Firefox windows are open.
copy and paste just sometimes refuses to work, even using ctrl + c (this is very irritating).
cpu usage rocketing for no apparent reason, even with just 1 window open.

this was happening on both my computers. a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop and my opty 165 system. if i use Internet Explorer, i dont have these issues at all. everything is up to date, i have no spyware/viruses, and im getting these issues after a fresh install. all the problems appear to be random and arent specific to any particular websites.

anyone else experiencing this kind of thing?

    thanks

edit: im on xp home on both pc's with sp2 and all critical updates installed.

I get a lot of random "Firefox encountered an error, send this error report and tell us what you was doing" sort of thing especially when I am using around 3+ tabs

    Memory hog still rockets up

If I have some sort of media-player content in a new tab or window, firefox would freeze for about 10 seconds and then eventually open it

And on my crappy computer, every download that would start would freeze firefox for about 30 seconds and then usually the download is complete by then lol

    Those are my rants

Are you using any extensions, I've installed the latest firefox on multiple pcs with no issue. The extensions I use are 'Tabbrowser' and 'IEView' which work fine.

Have you modded the 'about:config' prefs at all for speed or anything?

Is IE7 Beta 2 that good? I was using Beta 1 quite some time ago, didn't think it would be that different

i always seem to have issues with FireFox - i load a webpage and it just randomly closes, sometimes i load it and get "problem loading page", so i close then re-open and its fine, also memory leaks creep in occasionally.

i just grabbed the ie7 beta and it installed ok, rebooted and when i tried to open it, the screen flashes white for a split second and nothing happens....apart from it killing my wireless connection.

any ideas on how to get it to load?

I only really get firefox crashing if I've left the browser open for a couple of days and start using it again.

Its a memory hog for me as well, but closing it down and re-opeing sorts that out.

If firefox hangs when you try downloading something, go to tools downloads (ctrl+J) and clear the list, that might help.

I've found that this is usually caused by flash content, such as adverts. Try downloading the extention FlashBlock (http://flashblock.mozdev.org/), this solved High CPU usage for me.

Only problem i've run into is when I have more than 20 tabs open to be fair, occaisionally I think ctrl+c doesn't work but it could be me hitting a wrong key or something.

I have very rarely had the CPU rocket but would agree it is to do with having flash on the webpage. It really cant handle flash very well to be honest....

I also have a huge problem with memory leakage. Firefox definitely doesnt seem to be releasing the memory after loading a tab and closing it. I normally keep firefox open on the task bar so it doesnt have to load everytime, however after a days worth of surfing, the memory usage is approaching 300mb.... That is completely insane and absolutely awful in terms of programming.

Finally the Ctrl+c thing is definitely present in the latest release and quite often I will need to copy something first before pasting it. Otherwise I just end up pasting a collection of spaces into the respective window....

I really think Firefox has gone downhill a lot since I first started using it....

Never ever have any problems with opera, and usually have at least 15 tabs open

copying and pasting somtimes does not work properly correctly.

and it does have memory issues yes.... but the only time i have had problems with that is after resuming from hibernation.

IE7 is still bloated and buggy.

and my experience with opera mobile has been pritty bad, dont know how that compares to desktop opera
