Help!! I forgot my folks Ruby Wedding Anniversary

MAYDAY! MAYDAY! I'm a dead man.......

I've got until close of business tomorrow to find and get a gift for them. Saturday is the day in question but I'm working all day. If I'm lucky someone will suggest something that I can get in London tomorrow or expressed for a Saturday delivery.

Looking to spend upto £250. ANY gift ideas (or links) greatly appreciated!

    I'm so screwed.

Buy a plane ticket to a country with no reciprocal extradition treaty...j/k

The weekend away looks quite a good idea, but a fair bit of organizing; what sort of stuff do they like?

Don't get them anything and just "leave them up to their own devices"?

In my family it's never been mandatory to celebrate someone's anniversary - unless it was your own. I don't get the point of rewarding someone else for putting up with each other for so long.

Btw, my mother's 25th year anniversary also on Saturday. I wouldn't have actually known, if she hadn't told me. Though my parents have been seperated since err... 1998. Never divorced though. Very strange situation.

I'm not sure I could bring myself to:

    1. Find out her size. The word "rubenesque" is a polite way of putting it.

    2. Actually go out and get them. <shudder>

These are my parents for gods sake man. They don't do the kind of thing your suggesting. Nope. They have only ever done that 3 times to produce me and my siblings (the other 2 were accidents). In fact I'm not listening anymore.... la la la la LA LA LA LA LA.

if its like the Blackwells bookshop we had at uni it costs a £1000 for a dictionary - heavily overpriced

Yeah, totally agree. I don't think I ever did anything for my parents' anniversaries- it's their deal after all. I wasn't alive when they got married. I've had two of my own wedding anniversaries so far and I don't think anyone on my side of the family has sent us a card on either occasion- nor would I want them to, quite honestly. It's a day for my wife and I to celebrate and no-one elses. My parents are divorced now, and my dad got re-married this year. It was a cool day, and I like his new wife a lot, but I won't be sending them any anniversary cards either.

My in-laws always have their anniversary when we're on holiday together. In 2004 it was their 30th, and we went out and had a lovely meal at an expensive restaurant. Thing is, it was their choice to invite us along- if your parents haven't made a similar point of booking you all in advance, I can't see how they could be offended if you didn't make a fuss for them- let alone be offended at you not spending £250.

I've been in a relationship approaching (or past!) 4 years now, and I've been living with this lady for just over 3 years. Neither of us actually have ANY idea as to what date it was when we first got together. I'd doubt either of us would remember our wedding anniversary tbh (should that happen).
