So they've managed to program a feedback loop to keep the robot upright that works about as fast as a human brain- gyro says they're tipping over, leg kicks out to compensate. Given that processors run at 3ghz+ nowadays that's cool but not IMO amazing.

The first sony Sony QRIO video I ever say I thought really WAS amazing. Sadly I can't find it but I found this which is still pretty cool. After about 2m30s they start doing some Para Para which is pretty impressive.

The thing is Rave, those sony robots are simply programed each to do their own moves and steps - it just happens that all the robots do the moves in synchronisation because a humuan in a sony shirt timed them to the millisecond.

If you pushed one of them with your finger, it would fall over and carry on doing its little dance flat on its back. Nothing really spectacular there. Infact you can go buy 4 robots that will do exactly that now. Hitec Robonova. £600 each but if you spent enough time you could program them all to dance in synchronisation for 3 minutes.

Totally diffetent to having a robot that can react to changin surroundings in order to carry on doing its job.

Fair dos. Apparently Asimo can shake hands and keep himself upright though:

The reaction to the shove is pretty impressive. The way it recovers from it's tilting centre of gravity is quite astonishing really. Love it... /* speechless */...
