I was there a couple of weekends ago and tbh - I wouldn't bother. A couple of local lads took us out to Truro - fantastic bars.... Newquay is full of lads out on the pull / looking for a punch up... probably as the ratio of men to women is 8 - 1. Newquay has lost its appeal in the last 10 years or so - the place used to be a fantastic place to go. Unfortunately time - and too many chavs has kind of ruined it.

i totally agree mate me and some mates went there about 5 years ago after a levels, we stayed outside Newquay towards Truro and it was fantastic, we went out in newquay twice and our in Truro 5 times just because it was so much better. As Mako159th said there is way more men than women on a nite out.

I went to Newquay after my A-Levels- 9 years ago now but the bloke-to-girl ratio was reckoned to be just as poor back then too. It didn't seem so bad to me and I pulled quite a hot woman on my last night there. I would have thought these things were self regulating- when a place gets a reputation as having an excess of blokes, you would have thought all the girls would start thinking 'right- there's a target rich environment for our holiday'
.Still, if other posters here have recent experience of the place being crud then far be it from me to contradict them. In any case, pulling wasn't my primary purpose for going, I wanted to learn to surf. Still can't do it 9 years later .

If you do go Newquay, remember to take some ID, last time we went the place was quite strict on it, and we found that if you were with anyone who looked like they could be underage they asked for ID from everyone regardless of whether you look over 18. That was about 2 years ago though (there was a big police presence and think they had recently told them to clamp down on underage drinking). They may have eased of a little now though, but best take some just incase.

Yeh its pretty rubbish now. I went quite a few years ago and it was good, but i went again last year and it is stag central, no wimmin to be seen.
Sunnyside is like a slum, good when your 16-18 maybe but im an old git at 25 now and ive grown out of the club 18-30s mentality. They got us up at 7am and forced us to move our cars sayin that if we didnt we'd be thrown off camp. Only problem is we had got in at about 3-4am and we were all still mullered. I crashed my car into a wall (gently) coz i couldnt walk let alone drive. Sunnyside suck donkey balls ![]() Butuz ![]() RS-Watanabe GTR-32

Yep, been once and never EVER again. It's f***ing horrible. It's a dirty chav fest. Anyone over the age of 20 should avoid IMO.
"you cant go wrong with sunnyside"??? Like most camp sites there (but not the worst), it's like the last day at a big music festival, big, over populated, filthy, but without the music (unless you count the hundreds of boy racer cars pumping out happy hardcore). If you like a fight, then it's a good place to go, especially with the gang of yobs they call "security". All the clubs and bars are crap too. You would be better off going to somewhere like Bristol for a night out, then heading up the coast for a day or two if you are looking for a bit of beach action (it's the wrong time of the year for decent surfing anyway). |

Guess I must have gone on a good weekend... or avoided all the crap bars... as we did have my two mates who are almost locals.
Brighton was also excellent.

A bit late I know, but I have just come back from Newquay today having spent the last 2 weeks there working. Just to make you feel better, you didn't miss anything. As everyone said, it's expensive (I spent about £350 on taxis and alcohol alone, a lot of the other guys spent a lot more!) and the guy:girl ratio is ridiculous, which is odd as there are a lot of good looking girls wondering around in the evening (hen parties mainly), but seem to disappear somewhere when we went clubbing later that night.
Of course, this weekend you had us losing the football (that was a bit of dampener) and a LOT of extra RAF lads there as well! |
