Lovefilm getting slower??
any of you guys on here use Lovefilm for DVD rentals??
i used to be really happy with the service, id post DVD's back on monday morning and have a new pile on my doorstep on wednesday. However, the last month or so the service has slowed to much for my liking, i posted my DVD's back as usual on monday morning, they showed as returned yesterday, and my next 3 are due for dispatch tomorrow ![]() what the hell are they doing in 2 days when not dispatching my DVD's. Also i have a list of about 150 films queued in order of what i want to watch, recently they've been dispatching from position 20 on the list and downwards, its been weeks before i had one in my top 10, i wouldnt care but my top 10 isnt filled with the latest releases. Any1 else suffering with this crap service............. also would be appreciative of any suggestions of somewhere better i can rent DVD's from cheers

on the plus note their custoemr service is brilliant. |

screenselect does exactly the same thing. it seems like they allow you x amount of good ones and then send you all the crap. in the last couple of months that i was with SS, i only got 3 of the top films on my list within 3 weeks of them coming out. could be worse though, a mate of mine went in blockbuster and paid a tenner for 3 rentals and they were old ones as well, the robbing bleeders.

It's really hacking me off

No I mean; they never send out the fast-tracked title at all but instead completely ignore it and send out a bunch of others, even though the film stays fast-tracked for a few days and then goes back into the queue as though I had not returned any films at all. This has happened at least 6 times and I've returned at least a dozen films with it fast-tracked, but I still haven't bloody seen 'Sword of Doom'
....Oh well maybe one day... if the stars are in allignment or whatever has to occur... |

No doubt an RM problem rather than the rental company in question. They were all much of a muchness really. Just pick a random one johnny02004976 as you get a free trial with most of them anyway. Or, move your top 20 to your 21-40 and see if you start to get those. |

nick when you cancelled your lovefilm account, did it get deleted, or just indefinately frozen?
becuase id like to leave the option of using my account again in the future, but this whole freezing/unfreexing business on LF in crap. I just want it frozen indefintely until i want to use it again. |

well this seems to suck, I was giving serious thought to signing up to one of these companies when i'm back in the uk, as I generally watch one film/set of tv episodes each night while I play wow...and although I have a rental shop near me now I don't really in Stafford - plus i could save a fortune.
But if they are going to throttle the service if you use it a lot...that really puts me off...I guess it mentions this in their terms and conditions somewhere?

things like 'fair usage' policies I find stupid as well - just as bad as broadband caps imho. Granted I know why they put them in place - and the business logic can't be faulted, but from a consumer POV....
I'm of the opinion with any 'service' that you should get what you pay for. By that I mean if you pay for 'unlimited dvd rental', then thats what you should get. If it has limits - they should be clearly mentioned - not a vague 'fair use policy' which is open to interpretation. unfortunately these policies are legal and do exist, so nothing you can do really ;/

I used to find my service throttled - they would sit on DVDs for a day or two before sending them out - and contacted customer services who confirmed they had started doing this. At the time I checked the T&Cs of some other services and fortunately none of them did this, only lovefilm. 'Fair usage' argument in this case is a total crock because it's the users who keep DVDs for months who affect the service of others - who's got my bloody copy of 'Sword of Doom'? - this is purely about reducing lovefilm's processing and postage costs.
Now I use the service much less because I am permanently snowed at work, but still no fast-track or top 50 titles for me. But at least I get a very quick turnaround on the films at the bottom of my list |
