What's RGB-SCART? I've heard of SCART before but not RGB-SCART?

How does the TV Compare to say a Samsung 26"?

essentially it's component-over-scart. it's a good way to plug in european-model games consoles (e.g. it gives the best image quality for a gamecube, if you track down the cable)

    I bought the 32" Mirai.

At first I was a little sceptical of buying a brand such as Mirai, however lots of people over on avforums (I'm sure most know what they're talking about) are raving about them and saying they easily compare to bigger brand lcds so I took the plunge and bought one.

I must say I dont regret my purchase one little bit. It's got an awesome picture and lots of connectivity options and easily compares to the quality of more expensive branded LCD's.

I bought one of these last friday from Pixmania and it arrived yesterday. I went for the 27” because it is for my bedroom and size was an issue. I have to say that the picture is pretty damn good. There are loads of picture options to get it just how you like it, the black levels are good and the response time is great. The picture runs rings around the Samsung downstairs BUT (and this is a pretty big but) the sound is, I hate to say it, awful thanks to the two 2” speakers under the screen that supply the sound. I’m not that picky and I’m quite forgiving but even with the bass at 100 and the treble at 0 there’s still no bass.

I tweaked and tuned (even though all you can adjust is bass and treble) and managed to get it just good enough when you’re directly in front of it for it not to be annoying but step to the left or right and it sounds like laptop speakers. I went to hook it up to my Hi-Fi and this model doesn’t appear to have an audio out, I plugged my Hi-Fi into every audio port, even the headphone jack and nothing happened. When I plugged headphones into the headphone jack there’s and annoying low buzz. I now have my Sky box hooked up to my Hi-Fi and leave the TV sound off. Even an optional “surround” effect that works quite well doesn’t redeem it.

The question is: Is the fantastic picture worth the poor sound? I’m finding it hard and may e-mail Mirai just to check I don’t have a faulty sound-board.

Re: Mirai DTL 527V200 27" LCD TV

Hi all, I have been using the tv you mentioned lead head for over a year and I can say that the picture quality is absolutely awesome in HD. especially when Im gaming on the 360. One problem I noticed, (small one) was that I could see a feint black line down the left side of the screen, but only when the screen was dark, and that was fixed by adjusting the backlight, because it can be very bright.
The sound, as stated above, is well nothing special, gutless and absolutely no bass what so ever, but its fine for gaming on the 360, unless you wanna hear some bass...
All the uses you wanted it for are perfect for this tv and it has loads of nice features, like the hdmi and works flawlessy with the xbox 360.
    Definitely worth buying.

I think they stopped making that model in 1948.

Re: Mirai DTL 527V200 27" LCD TV

LOL, I was thinking about this thread the other day. In case you can still track one of these down here is an almost bi-annual review...just because I can:

I can't remember what Mirai said but I decided it was too much hassle to send my TV back. Needless to say I've gotten used to the weak sound. I rarely use my Hi-Fi, only for movies and games.

The picture is still pretty good although I have noticed some pixellation and a little ghosting when people move quickly in dark scenes. Maybe the panel's getting a little tired with age. I've hooked it up to my PC through HDMI and it puts my 20" CRT monitor to shame. Crysis and Bioshock are a wonder to behold at 1360*768. Also the ghosting and pixellation aren't apparent when it's in HD.

P.S. I got the headphone jack working but there's still an annoying hum...not that I use it :-)
