If a plane was on a tread... no only jokin...

There is a thing that nothing is,
and yet it has a name,
its sometimes tall, and sometimes short,
    and always joins our games.

The footprints are his, so the parallel lines are probably the vehicle that ran him over.

Just seemed obvious, it was the "sometimes tall and sometimes short and always joins in our games" that nailed it! I was always fascinated with my shadow as a kid

    My riddle

This old one runs forever, but never moves at all. He has not lungs nor throat, but still a mighty roaring call. What is it?

shelley, u cant just add a new riddle! lets finnish ctid's first!

A man was found dead out in a field of snow. The ony tracks that were left was a set of footprints between two parrallel lines. Who should the police be looking for?
    the fantom killer skier?

(btw, i think we shud add a new rule, that only the person that started the riddle can say "ye, thats the right answer", BEFORE sum1else starts a new riddle.

    Santa.

There's a cabin on the side of a mountain. There's 300 people in there and they are all dead. There's plenty of food around and lots of water, there's sign of some struggle.

    How did they die?

That's what I did, I posted my answer, it was correct so I posted my riddle.

Steve B, very close, I suppose you could call it a river as it's running water.
