According to a google search, thumbs.db files (I presume these files are what you're on about) are created when you view images and videos in thumbnail or filmstrip views in Windows Explorer.

They are a cache for thumbnail data.

In any open window (in Windows Explorer), click "Tools" > "Folder Options". Then click the "View" tab and look for an entry titled "Do not cache thumbnails".

I'm not sure if this will fix the problem, but it won't hurt to give it a try...

Nope it turns all the files into icons instead of thumbnails. It does stop the problem but i can't view pics etc as thumbnails
